reel steel

I picked up a Sea eagle (E771 I think) to use as a weekend/beater knife, and it has exceeded all expectations. Flips great, cuts great, and that 14C28N steel sharpens wonderfully. I'm not even very skilled at sharpening but can get this thing very very sharp.

My two critiques are: 1) blade is a bit thicker than I would prefer, and 2) I got the version with the carbon fiber-coated G10 scales, which are very smooth and non-grippy. I would suggest getting the G10 version for better grip. I solved my grip problem by using my drill press to apply some dimples in an isometric grid pattern (think golf ball pattern) to the smooth presentation-side scale, and now the grip is fine for extracting it from my pocket.
