Reenacting

As promised, here are the pictures of the VERY nice shop at the Fort:

The big double lung bellows, I started to decorate the place a bit with some branding irons I made today.

It was a beautiful day out today, and the kids loved it! Good questions too not just the same old "do you make swords" and "do you shoe horses".

You should make some flathead screw drivers the same style that you made those hooks and give a couple away to some people during the day. I remember that I had one of those once, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever.

Those bellows look a lot like the ones that I made last week =D I'm going to be doing some reenactment demo forging this summer and fall too, for the Historic Highlander's group. I had to build my own setup, portable too, no nice shop waiting to be used here =(

200$ in parts + time later and iv'e got a working bellows... now to build a portable wooden forge to go with it.

Nice work Justin, I have always wanted a big double lung bellows. Take good care of it, keep that canvas oiled!

" The shirt is a loaner (as is the hat and sash) so I of course WILL be wearing the apron, and WILL be growing a beard back also, I mean, who the heck was clean shaven on the frontier anyway? "
Acually, most everyone. Very few had beards, they were just not very popular in the 18th c. A man might neglect his shaving during a hunt, or scout, but when he returned to a civilized area, he would most often shave at first chance. Most juried events will not allow you in if you have any form of a beard. A stuble from not shaving is usually allowed, but not a real beard.

What do you mean 'no beards ' ? We all have beards in the Catskills.

I think if I were there I'd shave it off. There was a time in the old World when one of the countries was taxing the length of beards. The way NY is going with taxes, that could happen again, although that is a nice one you have there. Does it itch?
