referring to a custom as a woman?

The artist making the knife however, " is making an extension of himself ". I've seen long handles, medium handles, short handles...makes a girl go Hmmm. :p :D Cavelady

Think about what most knife nuts do with a knife in reference to what you do with a woman, you fondle it, rub oil on it, know where it is so no one steals it from you and be very careful handling it because if you don't it can cut your throat and stab you in the back. :D :p

IMHO, for some knife makers, calling your knives children, wives, daughters or sons, this is spot-on:

"Perhaps it simply fits into some of the bull$hit hype that people like to create??? "

To most westerners, particularly christians, an object is an "it". It's blasphemy to christians to render an object with a live spirit. Many christian religions have dedicated themselves to stamping out animism in their conquered native peoples all over the world. Isn't interesting how many christians imbue their knives with spirits. Is that to justify the price?

Interesting how so many men think their knives are women, but so many mental health pros think knives and guns are extensions of penises. Maybe the pros are wrong?

People are contradictory aren't they.

so that would makers of minature knives..........

To me I knife is just a tool, a thing, an it.

For some reason the use of words like she and her as gender-neutral singular pronouns, and phrases designed to drum up some sort of romantic notion in reference to a simple tool (no matter how fancy and elegant) always makes me feel uneasy.

e.g.
She's such a lovely Crescent wrench. She's smooth and cool to the touch, with graceful flowing lines. When I twirl her button she opens up wide for me, ready to tighten up my nuts.

You wouldn't happen to have her phone number wouldya? :D

Man, you guys crack me up!!!

Between Mike, Scott, Jerry, and Terry... I've about fallen off my chair a couple times in the last couple days! :D

The religious convictions (or lack thereof) behind any of this really had not entered my mind... but it is an interesting perspective.

I agree with Terry that it seems an attempt to romanticize an inanimate object.

I guess it would be easier to sell a $400 hunting knife for $6,000 if it was portrayed to be even more than it really is. Just a thought.

This thread has turned out a lot better than I'd hoped for.

man, I got to pay $3.95 a minitue to normally hear that Terry. Dang.

With sheath or without? ;)
Leather as creamy, soft, supple to the feel with an interior of durability...The patterns are ready for each knife in a row, wet and with the thrust of the knife into it's sheath and molded for that knife only... it is left to dry off by the cool breeze of the blower.( NEED A CIGARETTE NOW? ) Yes Yes Yes, with sheath and without!

And I thought it was just knifemakers that needed to get out more... Who would'a thought their wives too??? :p

Cindy, you CRACK ME UP!!! :D

-Nick-

Okay Joe... you made me do it:

"Man, that daughterly knife of yours.... WHEWE, she's a beauty. Mind if I pick her up and coon-finger her for awhile???"

MuHuHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! :D

-Nick-

Or the term sexy... A knife being sexy? Okay

I prefer her... But when salmon season is here, the fish are always refered to by the proper term. "He's a beauty..." etc.. If you want further info on this, PM me :D

Her is just more fun at times. Example: "I love to use the strap on her".
People are just weird and occasional need someone to talk to
