I love the design and whatnot of Emerson's knives and was considering buying one, but watching Neptune's videos made me hesitate. I know a lot of people dislike his opinions, but do they have any merit? Thanks.

i found it precious that he was sharpening a zdp 189 spyderco blade on a DMT stone at around 45 degrees ---on each side.

Neptune is an idiot. I wouldn't believe anything that guys says. Especially after the whole email incident with a certain distributor. Overall, he knows far less than any of the other knife reviewers on youtube. He rarely cites sources, and the sources he does cite are "a youtube user with a PhD in molecular whatever". Does that sound credible to you? Let the blades speak for themselves. There is a SEAL team with the Emerson skull as their logo. Emerson has hard use knives and backs them with an awesome warranty that covers the lock side. How many companies do that no questions asked? Neptune is a bumbling moron. Any set of threads will strip if you don't know how to use a screw driver.

That's just my opinion though.

I have a mini commander which is, without a doubt, my favorite knife. There is something about owning an Emerson that is different than owning any other knife. You get history with the blade, and each one has its own personality. Emersons also tend to maintain their value. So buy one, if you don't like it, then sell it on the exchange for nearly the same price you paid.

He also drinks Stella Artois. That's like the fall back brand for people who want to appear as though they drink good beer, but know nothing about good beer. Never trust a dude that drinks Stella Artois so often that he refers to it as just Stella.

Look at the ring and pinky fingers. This looks exactly like the fingers of someone I know who stabbed something hard with a reverse grip, edge out and his fingers went onto the blade. He wound up cutting the tendons on his fingers. I dunno maybe same thing happened with this guy.

Do you have any knife stores in your area? I find that for me, holding a knife and examining it in person is the best way of finding out whether I should buy a knife or not.

Remember, his reviews are HIS opinions on the knives. They shouldn't be discounted just because he thinks and does things differently. Others have nothing but positive thoughts about Emersons. Just take everyone's opinions and use them to get an idea what the knife is like. Everyone has different views on things.

As some one who has carried and used two Emerson knives for a while I can tell you this. They are the best you are going to get for the money and dependable, I stake my life on them.

Get one for your self and form an opinion of you own. As far as I know that guy from Neptune knives is just some one that sells knives on the Internet. He had some trouble with the guys at Striker some time back in think. Some people just like to be controversial in the things they say.

Neptune is the guy who says Chris Reeves doesn't make a reliable lock. If that doesn't say something about the guy then I don't know what does. Actually I do. Every video he does.

The videos I've seen display nothing more than a person with far too much time on their hands, a lack of any organizational skills, and the personality of a child with zero professionalism. Would you consider the opinions of a person like that to have any merit? If you like something or want to try something, do it. It's not like you are investing in a house or something, it's a folder.

I'll just echo what the others said; Neptune is a complete idiot. I wouldn't trust a word he says.

I offered him some very good advice in the beginning of his career , then he blocked me .

I´m still a little hurt by that.

Something similar happened to me. I offered some sharpening theory in a nice way and promptly got blocked. He should think about taking the time to listen and learn before acting like an "expert". The moral of the story is to not take anything he says seriously. He is OK for some quick comic relief but that's it.

That guy is a pest and somewhat of a kook. He hounds knifemakers and talks kindly about them until the knifemakers tell him to piss off once they see him spine whacking and abusing their knives. Then he will change his mind and talk trash about the makers product.

Saying NeptuneKnives is an idiot is an understatement.

Watching 5 minutes of his videos will tell you everything you need to know about this guy.

The sad part is that some people actually beleive the nonsense he posts.

I recently unsubbed. Not because the opinions bother me so much (I don't agree with most of them but its good to get varying viewpoints) but because his vids are badly edited and EXTREMELY choppy. Its like he screws something up and then just cuts it so the vid doesn't line up right. For the most part the vids look like something shot on a mini-VHS in 1995 without the benefit of any editing.

I've been banned from his channel from day one. He doesn't like hearing differing opinions. :) Don't think I'm missing much
