REI Dividends are out ......... What gear are you going to get with it?

I had about $350 in dividends - spent most of it on a pair of trail runners for my fiance and some sanuk sandal/shoes for myself. Also picked up some little odds and ends, like a wireless thermometer to replace one that I left behind at a campsite.

You spent $3500 at REI this year  Or is that also from gaming the credit card? I clearly need to get in on this, I love gaming my Chase rewards card. I pay a $25 a year fee for the program and last year I banked 5 $100 Amazon cards.

I probably spent less than 3k at REI this year, but I've used the card for gas and groceries and stuff. I'm afraid to go look at my statements and see just how close to 3k I actually came, though  :D

Actually, a lot of my REI purchases don't qualify for the 10%, because I buy a lot of clothing off the clearance racks. I still get something like 1% on those, though, from using the credit card.

Being a member and buying at REI online, you can pickup your item at your closest store (or any store if you travel) and there is no charge for shipping.

I picked up a Snow Peak Mini Solo Cook Set. It nests PERFECTLY inside the Guyot/Nalgene Stainless bottle. Now I have a pot, cup and lid that all nest under the bottle. I also used it to get a couple shirts, a gorilla pod and a seat to summit dry compression sack. TOTALLY STOKED. Love the dividends!

Me too, it'll tell you both totals though. Non dividend-able purchases for me was close to 3k and dividend-able purchases was just over 1k. I was blown away. I knew I spent A LOT there, but didn't realize how much.

So a Guyot will nest in the pot and the pot in the cup?

I haven't received my rebate yet, but I am guessing it will be around $20. I think I'll put it towards a new pair of boots and combine that with the 20% off.

Exemptions include... "Offer not valid on skis, boots or bindings; snowboards, boots or bindings."

-I am guessing they only mean skying and snowboarding boots.

I just checked mine. $60 and change. Not sure what I need at the moment. Fortunately, I can practically walk to the nearest REI store. It's not the best location though. I still do most of my browsing online. If worse comes to worse, I can have them ship to the store free of charge.

I'm thinking on a water purifier. I'm doing half dome a little later this year, and I hear it's kind of a must. And once I'm done, I can toss in my earthquake bag!

You should be able to carry all the water you need; unless you are doing an over night.

Yep! And, the lid nests upside-down under it all. I'm super stoked! I'll take a picture for you today or tomorrow and post it.

EDIT: Took a crappy cell phone picture for you. It should illustrate the "nesting" properties. Lid, cup, pot, bottle all stacked up nicely.

What does that mean "gaming the credit card?"

I don't have much of a rebate, some items don't count towards it, and I only typically buy what I need when it is at an off season or closeout price. That said, I've been interested in a new sun hat, and possibly a new headlamp. Not really fun stuff, but always in the could use category.

Bah humbug. I only got $3.80 from my dividend. Apparently the bike I bought last summer was Nondividendable ($735.82). Do certain items not count for dividends or was it because it was an "on sale" item?

Well, 54 bucks and 20% is going toward the Neo Air. Would do a new GPS, but it doesn't apply to them.

Doc

Im getting a set of trekking poles, after the last outting my knees felt a little weird, well just the left one, but then I think I can talk myself into a Kifaru supertarp and annex as well.
