REI Dividends are out ......... What gear are you going to get with it?

Bah humbug. I only got $3.80 from my dividend. Apparently the bike I bought last summer was Nondividendable ($735.82). Do certain items not count for dividends or was it because it was an "on sale" item?

Sale items do not count towards the dividend.

What does that mean "gaming the credit card?"

LOL, just means using the rules to your advantage beyond what they probably intended. I'll go to lunch with someone, pickup the whole check and they will give me cash. I always make sure my wife uses my card to fill up her tank, things like that. And of course never ever using it as a debit card, you only get the points if it processes as a credit card. There are other trickier things you can do, check out fatwallet.com sometime, they are obsessed with this type of thing. It can really add up, like I said - I paid a $25 program fee and got $500 out of it last year.

i was gonna get my gps with my $110 dividend and the 20% coupon. then i found out that i can't use the coupon on the gps. so i bought a Miniworks EX, then returned it and got cash. Just ordered the GPS from amazon for $50 dollars cheaper.

Nice pack!

They have a REI credit card too. It adds to your rebate for non-REI and especially for REI purchases.

Yeah, and I think they still give you a $40 gift card if you sign up.

I screwed the pooch and got my REI credit card AFTER I'd already bought my sea kayak from REI. Still, $90 dividend isn't too bad. And I signed up when they were giving out $50 gift cards.

I took it easy last year so only had $28 in dividends. Took my 20% off coupon and a short shopping list to REI yesterday. Ended up spending over $300. Kill me...if you don't my wife will.

Actually got a lot of stuff. New water filtration system for backpacking, two jackets, and a bunch of odds and ends. Been drooling over the North Face Apex Bionic Jacket for some time so finally pulled the trigger. Picked up some MRE's. Sure hope they've improved since the last time I tried them (10ish years ago).

It was because it was on sale.

If you get the REI credit card, you still get 5% on sale items from REI, and you get 1% from items bought anywhere else on the card.

The Mountain House freeze dried stuff is quite good.

Yeah, the return policy is good, but you pay for it.
REI's prices have gotten outrageous. They have to make up for the *ssh*les who return hiking boots that have gone the full length of the PCT.

Same reason Costco has gotten more expensive on stuff like electronics. We pay for the cheaters returns.

I used to buy lots of stuff there. Now I tend to purchase from other online dealers with better prices.

My dividend is $90 this year.
Can't think of anything I need though.

Got my pack weight down to 25lbs, (dry, and I carry a lot of stuff) There isn't any lighter weight gear left to buy.

Just ordered up a new climbing helmet. It was free. Had it shipped to the store, which is 0.7 miles away, for free. I still have ~$4.50 left on my account for my next visit. Schweeettt!

I think I'm going to take back my current dry bag for my kayak. The damn thing has a zipper that has malfunctioned ever since I bought it. I've "fixed it" four or five times, but it's a real annoyance when I 'm paddling. I'll get some credit for it, and I'm going to use my dividend to buy an upgraded dry bag and to buy a spray skirt for one of my kayaks (at the 20% off price).
