Reinhardt Teaser

I just want to say, that I hope it has a lower than average hardness, close to the kabar khuk machetes. It can be harder but we'll like abusing this one

Well it is 1095CroVan, so it has to be hardened optimally. It'd be different if it were being made of say 5160 spring steel like most machetes are. It's going to perform more like a large knife than a machete. Especially at .187" thickness.

All I know is the one Ethan brought to Beckerhead West held its edge throughout the entire weekend with almost constant use by everyone there. Whatever RC KaBar and Ethan chose is working :) No damage was noticeable by the end of the weekend and the Kukri had been cutting, chopping, and scraping all weekend.

dirty lies.

nobody on the East has seen one. therefore, lies :D

I might tell a fib or two but never about Kukri goodness!!! :)

I will neither confirm nor deny what Mr Siegle says but I will say that I fell in love with that blade when I played with it.

Ethan,

With respect, since the west coast guys and gals were able to see and use the upcoming kukri product it seems only fair that the east coast Becker and kukri lovers get first shot at pre-orders. "This really makes a lot of sense if you don't think about it too much!?!"

I can only speak for myself here but as one of the most fanatic kukri users on the forums I can guarantee you that I will give your product tons of good hard consistent use. I have been on a personal quest for this type of blade for over 5 years and after spending a fortune on poor substitutes I am very excited to get my hands on this kukri.

Some of my most prized kukri are the Blackjack Reinhardt and WWII MkII's. I would love to use the Blackjack Reinhardt but it's so rare and irreplaceable that I cannot bring myself to use it. One of my only wall handgers.

And of course I am not only a kukri lover I also am a huge fan of K-Bar and Becker.

This post has it all; begging, guilt, pics and a plan of action!

Gahhhh I want a Reinhardt Combat Kuk pretty bad. The Kabar Becker Kuk will have to scratch that itch for me though.

i believe there is a colorful line from the ages of old, which translate something like:

"get in the end of line, which is way, way, wayway back there, i'm in front"

hahahha.

man, i've been waiting

i have a couple versions of the Becker version, and the original Blackjack Seki City model, and ... hot!

this is why everytime we talk about "it", the date will slip

I played a similar game with a former manager. He was a retired USArmy artillery officer with no technical background other than being a 'manager'. When he took over, he started cutting my time estimates for projects, sometimes as much as half. So ... I started doubling them. Whenever he asked for an update, I'd double the remaing time. This went on for nearly a year - I'd double the estimate and then he'd cut it in half. ;)

So, this whole time I've been like "kukri eh? Well, I've got the king, I really don't need one like that"...

But, I believe the shape is rubbing off on me. The stripped/non-coated older versions look quite nice. What's the blade length again?

And, maybe I missed it, but if there is a pre-order, is that just early access, or some kind of a deal (or both)?

back in the day when managers could set times, and treated them as promises you made to them... managers sucked...

then along came agile, where your mini-projects are "pointed", where points equal time, and part of the process is tuning that time DURING a run, though generally they still held you to those times as if a binding contract of doom were present. which is why, depending on the pointing scheme, you always pad a litlte... because to be fair, they have to plan to, and if you estimated wrongly that once, you learned fast ;)

now we have "forecasts". we don't promise nothing. forecasts are like weather. they are not promises or guarantees. "business" and "product" are always pushing for more more more with less less less and faster faster faster... they control the rudder but not the winds. so... things "slip", but we don't call it that. forecasts become "more nuanced" as we learn new waters. in theory, we'd master that, but they never keep us in the same seas ;)

yeah, you missed it. they only made 9. they're done.

now managers can suck less.
which reminds me, I need to calculate velocity over the last month or so. Prolly dropped while I was the only one burning out.

re: The Nine
Yeah, it's like that.

I have a feeling after my recent YouTube comparison that the 9 will be quickly overshadowed by the 21... Maybe I all categories.
