My grandma on my daddy’s side was a depression era Tennessee sharecroppers kid who married a Kentucky sharecropper. That lady would eat literally any part of a cow or pig and especially liked the ears. At Thanksgiving “the fanny” from the turkey was all hers, but later in life I had to sneak it to her wrapped in a napkin. What a waste. Just fold one up stitch it and send it. Absolutely true. I was introduced to heart, brains, blood, intestines, pancreas, etc at a young age by members of my family who were immigrants from Sicily and Greece, as well as friends whose families were from North Africa and Iceland. My grandma on my daddy’s side was a depression era Tennessee sharecroppers kid who married a Kentucky sharecropper. Eating literally anything is a lost art these days, we have it too goodEvery pig roast I’ll chew on an ear just to toast one for old Gram.
