It fires pretty hard. There's a little bit of side to side play when the blade is open, but it's more or less what you might expect from a relatively inexpensive auto.
The safety is on top of the handle. It slides back and forth and locks the firing button so it cannot be pressed. It can barely be seen on pictures 4 and 5. Its a black little slide right behind and above the plunger lock.
