Reluctant gut hook

I absolutely hate gut hooks. There are a lot of hunter who love them. As a maker I think they suck, not only because I think they are hard to make, but because the ones that I have used don't work well on the elk I have harvested. After trying 2 gut hooks I started doing some research and found that making the hook so that the cutting part was the curvature of a 1/2" diameter circle should fix the problems that I have seen. I have not tried it again, but maybe.
