Remain Positive !!!

To be honest, I think a lot of the recent tension has to do with us all getting cabin fever for the winter. If we're at this forum, then we are folks who love to get out and stretch our legs on the trail. Winter means lots of work and no play.

So lets all go sharpen our favorite knife and read a good outdoor adventure book, then regroup and sing koombaya :D

except for those that live in the fruity states of CA and FLA. :D

But I agree, it sucks when threads degrade into putting down other peoples choices instead of taking the info for what it's worth.

I thought the other thread was actually a good subject and a great point. Don't bring something just to bring it, what is your reason for bringing it.

So Elen; is it true what the Russians say? That the Finnish national dance is the knifefight?:D

Well, yes, you could say that it is. Because if you're going to get killed in Finland "violently", it's pretty much going to be because 1) someone stabbed you with a knife, 2) did some chopping on your person with an axe or 3) just ran all over you with his car, being totally drunk. I shit you not, in this country it's about a million times more likely to be stabbed to death than shot or even beaten to death with other instruments. I guess it's a cultural thing. :D

Out of all the sub-forums here, I like this one the best as I always learn a lot by coming here.

I would say a couple of people here are quite opinionated but that's cool as well.

If people are just polite I don't mind if they disagree with me at all. I find 99% of people here are polite and very helpful.

Hey, that's weird. I always thought violence was less pronounced in cold countries because people were focussed on staying warm. Here in Africa, it gets real hot, so everyone is free to think of other things to do, like chopping up their best mates after an argument over the soccer results.

Come to think of it - the common denominator is alcohol. Most of the violence here that isn't crime related is usually caused by an excess of cheap booze.

One of the key elements to coming through a Survival situation is to maintain a positive attitude !

The reason I bring this up is that I have noted a current trend on this forum to bash other forum members for no real reason and create a lot of negativity.
If we can't keep positive here on the forum what chance do we have in a Survival situation ?
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but can we not be a little less harsh when comparing notes, it is a good forum we have here and I would hate to see it go the way a lot of other forums have !!!
We don't have to lie when we post threads but for example if someone shows their new knife and asks opinions we should try and be more tactful.
For example, someone shows their new Survival knife with an upswept blade, rather than say that sucks everyone knows you need a spear/drop point etc,etc let's be a little positive and say...well I prefer a Spear point for woodcraft but that should make a great skinner.....well you get the idea of where I'm coming from eh !!!;)

Thats right! Try to be friendly. I think that most of the negative stuff on these pages comes from missunderstanding. By the fire, with a beer in hand things would probably be different!:D

By the way Pitdog, Vancouver Island is a beautiful place! I was there a couple of yers ago. Saw a cougar in the woods! I will never forget that moment!:)
