Remington Prospector 2021 Baby Bullet Discussion and Picture Thread

Sorry meako meako , I just saw this. So you‘re telling us that they have an anti-antipodean policy? Tell them that since two negatives (anti‘s) make a positive, they should express ship you a complimentary Baby Bullet due to a logic error on their part. ;) This wrong must be righted!
Its a kind of postage paranoia that a few dealers have...mostly because they have taken losses on O.S. shipments that have been lost in transit or as we say "downunda" .. "stolen by the the posties"...
Understandable .....but I have several Porch contacts Stateside who are able to to help.🤩.....its the waiting game now...actually should be here today or monday hopefully..🤞

1st World problems😏
Yea…. “I have enough knives” every knife nut in America…LOL
Are you guys the same person. Just asking since you have the same dude in your sig pics.

IMO, the darker the better. Same with the 83 "Tascosa" lockbacks, which I assume came from the same batch of "dark brewed" (gotta love those marketing folks ) bone.

I think folks will be kicking themselves in two or three years that they did not snag a few of these when they could. I forsee serious appreciation. I guess time will tell!

I love it. They are built like a tank.

So now you know you have to keep all three, right? I mean, since they're not actually dupes. ;)
I probably will to be honest. I still have 4 or 5 rotten banana 85. I decided I wanted to get them from ripe to rotten 😆 it’s a problem but the first step is to admit

But my intention originally was to hopefully get the light and dark - gift the extra to family or friend - and if got three identical maybe return one

They are very nice, but I feel the fact you can still buy them after a month or so means demand is luke warm and future demand is questionable. My personal opinion, a Remington logo is not a GEC brand logo, in terms of desireability by the knife collecting set.

While you're probably right, I like to think the majority of us aren't as considered about future monterary value so much as the fit and finish and design of the knife. And how much we'll enjoy it. But maybe that's naive.

I'm not sure how much what logo is on the knife mattered to me. From time to time I had thought about buying one of the originals but always knew that I'd never be able to bring myself to use an antique and could not justify buying a knife that I had no intention of ever using. This knife scratched the itch nicely. It's been said before about GEC but it does not take much of a stretch to imagine this knife being made a century ago.

Can you still buy any of the other 73s (African Rosewood; Bocote) at retailers? No? What do you think that means?

It means that these knives were an SFO for Blue Ridge Knives and Blue Ridge set the retail price on these knives pretty close to the actual FMV and not $100 (or more!) less than what a flipper can get for them here or at the Bay like 99% of all of the rest of GEC knives. So no flipper-fueled lolly scramble for them. I also understand that they made a fairly high number of these. So all of that is why you can still buy them. If retailers were selling them for just over a hundred bucks, like many/most GECs, and there was a more typical number made, then I think they would have all been gone long ago like the other 73s.

These are objectively outstanding knives. As someone who does not buy knives as speculative investments, that is what matters to me. However, I predict that over time, when they are not available at retailers any more, Remington made by GEC will prove to be as desirable as other knives made by GEC, such as Northwoods. I hope we are all around in five years to reevaluate this.

It seems

I totally agree. GEC's SFOs like the Schrades and M&Gs are some of my favorites. And this one is probably my favorite knife of the year, maybe of the last several years. Hopefully people don't sleep on them because of perceived value. Once they're gone, they'll probably appreciate. That being said, I never buy a GEC based on perceived future value. I buy it (if able) because it's cool and I want to carry it. If this knife is only worth $50 on the secondary in several years, I will still count myself fortunate for having picked up a couple. Just a great knife with a lot of history backing it up. But, I do love the Remington bullet knives, so I'm a little biased.

In the past...
The GEC Schrades sat on shelves forever.
The M&G knives sat forever too, until GEC said no more SFOs.
Many old GEC SFO Club knives have went for pennies on the dollar.
But Lone Star, Waynorth, and Northwoods have always been HOT items.
So, no guarantee that other branded knives built by GEC will be hot or cold in the future... it's a crazy market.

Just to clarify a bit; the 73 Bullet knife is an sfo for SMKW, not BRK. Also, there were 2500 pieces made so that explains why so many are still available. A fine knife never-the-less, and a bargain at less than flipper prices. If only 500 were made, you'd see them selling for twice the going rate. JMHDAO
