Facts.I never thought I would say this about a GEC, particularly a #73, or one as well made as this one, but I prefer the 1173. It has a bit more character in the blade shape, the jigging, and the more pronounced curve in the handle.
I am still trying to reconcile this with the fact the #73 is my favourite GEC pattern.
A fine edge, yes. Also needs resharpening more frequently. My biggest complaint with 1095.I think it’s easy to get spoiled paying such low prices for GEC knives. $170 for an old school, handmade knife of this quality is a bargain. Their normal prices around $100 is a downright steal. And, 1095 takes a much finer edge much than stainless steel. What a treasure GEC is!
I love this. I am the same way with Boker and Otters. Strangely enough my habit with GEC is to buy two of any given style, hammer one as a user, then safe queen the other. My 23 single blade Bullet Trapper and this 7352 Remington are both safe queens. I have a 23 with Autumn smooth bone and a Rosewood 73 as my users for the Trapper line.Or a little of both...
That's why there are choices, something for everybody.
I currently have 14 GEC knives and 30 Case knives... and I enjoy the Case knives as much as the GEC knives.
Thanks!Cool pic Crappie71!
That's a real pretty cousin!I received mine a few days back. It's a beauty, and I'm super pleased with it! Just got around to taking a pic with it's distant cousin.

I noticed some sharp spots in the jigging that tend to grab my finger a bit. Its not uncommon with this style jigging from GEC, it's the same jigging as some if the 15s and it will wear down after some use/pocket wearDid anyone else notice a lot of chip out in the jigging on this one?
A little sandpaper will take care of it.Did anyone else notice a lot of chip out in the jigging on this one?
For all you guys/gals complaining about GEC pricing, you do realize that GEC had nothing to do with the retail pricing of this knife don't you? And why are so many complaining about the price of this Remington Prospector? It's a heck of a knife and well worth it? Maybe we can just get off the pricing and show pictures and discuss this knife.
I just ordered
one rom SMKW, $ 169..as I collect bullet knives.
They have been out for 2 weeks on SMKW site and they still have stock to sell….so, not so much enthusiam for these GEC I guess.
A few on ebay for $199.
Be curious when SMKW sells out, will these sell for $199? or take a deep dive.
As it looks now, not too promising as an investment. But I guess they will alway be worth $150 or so.
Certainly does not look lke a GEC you would buy 3 or 4 and Flip for profit.
I think if it came in a GEC tube and said Rem Replica Bullet by Gec….special run, it would have sold like hotcakes.
