removed from Strider prices going up?

I would wager that the continued success of Strider knives isn't based on some old story true or untrue. The old history may have gained some buyers and it has certainly turned some away.
I do not think it has any influence on repeat customers and word of mouth recommendations. That only happens when the product is good.
 
I think Strider has has done enough penance and has been bashed thoroughly enough that by now we can let it go and discuss the knives.. How long has it been, over a decade?

I thought their prices were high already for what the knives were.

Actually in health 1+1=3 Lol, and in plenty of other complicated math 1+1 doesn't = 2

Agree almost all around. --^ however after paying the price and holding in hand an SMF, I'd say the knife justifies itself, and for me would justify a (Purchased on exchange though, one paid full price is enough) CC SnG.

There was a particular forum that was about 4 years late with it's 'tabloid' like front page devotion to all that is Mick Strider.

The facts that where ignored, and still are by many, bother a lot of people.

Mick and Dwayne did and said some things I am sure they regret, but the man there is so much more to it than 1+1=2.
Really easy to kick the crap out of someone based on one side of the coin.

It's a great read, was back in 07 even though it was years too late and done in a very tasteless manner.

That thread cost this site more good members than I can count.

This about sums it up:

Reading this thread and others like it have saddened me a great deal. I think the term "beating a dead horse" comes to mind, and is most apt in this thread and others of a similar vein.

I think that this thread has reached the point of being a parody of Bladeforums itself.

If I were to say "who cares" about all, I would be pummeled here by page after page of responses by those who obviously do care. In fact, I think that this forum, its members, and its management have taken it as mission from God to denigrate Mick Strider, and Strider knives.....even Dwayne Dwyer has been dragged into this.

This is sad, and whether expressly stated or not, this has become personal and vindictive. Sadly, this diatribe has only served to soil the reputation of this forum in my eyes.

I support Mick Strider, and Strider knives. I think that they make one of the best hard use knives out there. I dont endowe them with magical properties..they are just some of the best tools made. I laud the Strider Knife company for doing that. I dont think anyone else can deny what Mick Strider and Strider knives have done to support members of the US Armed Forces. He and they have shown time and time again their willingness to contribute.

I dont care what Mick Strider did in the past, but I do know what he does now, and I respect him for that. I also respect him for not entering into this fray and denigrating himself with personal attacks of the like that he has been subject to here.

A wise man once said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". I would ask all of you to look into your hearts here before you wind up and pitch.

No one deserves the treatment that Mick Strider has recieved here.

We get you don't care about honor , obviously lol but saying shame on those that do is down right silly.. stolen valor project exposes dirt bags just like him that have zero honor with their low class shabby asses.

FACT despite opinions on his actions or the situation, the knives strider knife company makes are quality folding blades/tools and perform.

I've never heard this about Mick Strider and I for one and thankful for these threads. The problem with society is that we give everyone a pass now, these people don't learn or change, they just continue because we forget. Beating a dead horse is not wrong, it serves as a reminder.

The reason I see most people complaining about BF is that it is a no bs environment, that doesn't mean every comment is correct, it means you get put under a microscope. Should I be on another forum because of my collecting habits (ultra high-end flippers), yeah, but I like it here. People here care about who they buy their knives from and don't drink the kool aid all day.

I bypassed the Strider level of knives and went straight into collecting the top end knives. I was thinking of getting one to get one, but after reading this there is 0% chance of that. I care where my knives come from, as much as the knives.

good members? let the usn have them. strider marketed his company on the foundation of his spec-ops and combat experience. built a ton of relationships from this. when he was outed for being a phony, he still fought to preserve his lies. if he donated all the profits from his lies to veteran causes and walked away from the knife and tool industry, then i and many others might put down our stones. i feel it is important to inform members who are unaware of micks history (like pittknife) about his shady past as it relates to his company.

Strider is a unique situation that will never be defined by this.
They don't like to talk about it much, but I can tell you that they give more than your favourite knife company ever will.

They are both highly respected where it matters and by people who have far more knowledge of what Strider is as a whole.

If they have done so much, why on earth wouldn't they want it known? Especially in light of things like this thread.
How/why is it that you are one of these privileged few that do know?
 
Strider Knives did not leave Bladeforums because anyone here put Mick and Dwayne down for their lies about their personal backgrounds. They had already decided to go with a different forum setup where they would have more control over the discussions. Too bad for them, once they left here, they lost their best chance to hold onto what sympathy they still had. Once Spark did his research and put the whole story together, they were trashed.

There is no secret backstory, they have no wide support in the community they pretended to represent.

You mean Duane Poland, USMC scout sniper extraordinaire, don't you? They are both unrepentant liars who made their company using horse crap "combat background" articles in knife magazines. They even had the audacity to do paid training for awhile.

I admit it was pretty shrewd to think no one was going to buy crappy stainless steel and para cord handled knives made by an E-1 non-tab washout ex-con and a former USMC computer geek.

They needed to become Lord of the Rings badass Ranger and the Leatherneck Deadeye to move their early product and so they did so. You can dump an ocean of perfume on it and the situation will still always stink.

I must confess that I find the most amusing part of the saga is all of the declarations from "fair minded" folks who proclaim that these dirtbags have "suffered enough."

What exactly have they been suffering from, an excess of truth?

This is precisely why I voice my opinion despite strider die hard fans crying. Even if one person who didn't know mick burger/strider was/is a lying wannabe loser who started his company based on LYING about his military service is educated and avoids giving their money to him then its worth it to take the time to type the TRUTH.

Then the wannabe's fans say shame on us veterans for not letting his stolen valor wannabe ass off the hook without any repentance... some nerve. Dude has never even heard the word honor before. pathetic.

Do i think the strider backstory is a horse skeleton? Yep. Do i think present and future customers deserve to knownthe truth also yep. Some mistakes follow you for the rest of your days and its that way for a reason. I Find it rather tasteless that someone would defend them. Buy their knives. They make good ones. Just remember though that those good knives are the only reason people are putting it aside in the first place. Anyone else would be an outcast for life. Making Good knives doesnt excuse someone of fabricating their service history. And im glad. They support the troops, offer them discounts and "do more things than we will ever know about" thats called paying for your crimes.
