I was also surprised that the spantos sold out in minutes. Last wave of Eklipse didn't sell as fast.

I have a question of Hinderer specialists : is there a pattern for Hinderer to release new waves of knives ? I am new in the hobby and am totally fond of Hinderer knives, and would like to know if there is a possibility to predict drops of half tracks (wharnie) and xm-18 flipper less.

That was a numbers game. Judging by the number of variant DLT listings and how Jason didn't announce the harpoon spantos, I am guessing they got less than two dozen. With the spear point Eklipses they got probably 150 of them or so. There will be another big spear point Eklipse drop here in the near future as the DLC half of the DLT order will drop. That should be another ~150 pieces I would imagine, assuming they split their exclusive order half and half, which I suppose might not be the case.

If I remember right, the Halftrack Wharncliffe was (so far) a USA Made Blade exclusive. Scott is here on BF, you can ask him directly. Superb shop and knife (I have two).

Regarding other XMs, there are some dealers that will tell you what they ordered, and even reserve you a knife, some won't. What are you looking for ?

That being said, the BF exchange forum here is great. Just saw a good swedged spearpoint being listed ....

Roland.

Jason from DLT said that Scotty at USAMadeBlade loves the Halftrack/Full Track model so much that USAMadeBlade gets basically all the exclusives for the model. The Halftrack wharncliffe and bowie were both USAMadeBlade exclusives.

I feel the demand for Hinderer knives has increased noticeably though I am not sure if it is because of the tri-way system, the stimulus checks, or the amount of time people spend surfing the web while WFH, or all of them.
Agreed. I've been searching for a XM-18 3.5" fullered blade, non-flipper for months now and can't find one anywhere. Seems like most of the Hinderers that come up for for sale online sell really fast.

That's a Unicorn. The last one on ebay (174643164273) sold for $800. The fullered spear was a DLT exclusive to begin with, even the standard flipper is quite rare now.

Robots. Different than droids. Droids have personality, and some have assisted in saving the galaxy. But robots just follow simple commands, like buy everything on this website, or clean the floors at 3pm.

Exactly. Can you imagine C3PO mopping floors?

Anyway, in that we live in a capitalist country, supply and demand dictate many things. I don't own a Hinderer, never have, and doubt I will. However, for many years they have been very popular. 5-6 years ago just getting one often involved paying an greatly inflated price due to the scarcity.

Bots are basically programs to buy up large amounts of a limited release product with the goal of making money reselling at an inflated price. However, most retailers are trying to keep that from happening by only allowing one per customer, etc.

The two main gripes i heard with hinderers was the bad action and flipper landing gimping. The triway eklipse fixes both of those issues.
I think they are just in high demand. I myself want one.

I was wondering about this as well! where the Sebenza and Inkosi seem to be all over the place, and when I finely got my hands on one I paid top dollar to get it home.:(

Thanks Blues! I just bought my first Hinderer. Eklipse Harpoon Spanto, stonewashed blade and lockside, blue/black g10. I’ve been tempted for years but never pulled the trigger on one.

Glad to help and hope you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Rob is a site supporter and an all around good guy...just like Jordan, Jason and the crew at DLT.

5pm EST USAMADEBLADE will be dropping the last batch of Half-Track Wharnies...for “a long time”, according the Whitty. Working Finish Blades with Battle Black Ti.

The truth is, these bots buying all the Hinderers are Russian. They are implanting tracking chips in the knives before reselling them.

Facetiousness aside, I've considered buying a wharncliffe XM, but there are other knives in that price range that will take precedent if ever I can locate one.

BTW what are your guys thoughts on the finishes? I ended up with stonewashed (seems like the standard). It was that or “working finish”. I hope I chose wisely.

There's no wrong answer. Some work better on one knife or another, or color depending on how your eye sees it.

I think you'll be well pleased...but then I like both.
