[Laughs in GEC Collecting speak]

I swear GECs are the traditional Hinderer, LOL.

5pm EST USAMADEBLADE will be dropping the last batch of Half-Track Wharnies...for “a long time”, according the Whitty. Working Finish Blades with Battle Black Ti.

Thanks for the heads-up, I snagged one. :) Battle black, black G10, working finish. I'm excited to see what I think of the little Hinderer.

I got one of the spantos when they 1st put try-way on the Halftracks. They punch way above their size,I really like them...I want a bowie so bad lol

I was looking at the bowie Halftracks for a while there, they still had a couple, but I spontaneously bought the wharnecliffe one instead... I dithered too long about the bowie and they are gone now. I wish I'd gotten the black/battle bronze bowie they had left instead, to be honest.

You picked well. The HT Wharnie is unique, even my wife's favorite for boxes ...

My other one is the WF / SW combo ... very cool.

You guys are really bad. I have a weakness for blue and Wharncliffe blades. I ordered one just now. I wasn't sure if I would like the HT and the 2.5" blade and will see soon enough.

I wanted to get another Hinderer but have not been able to score one I wanted.

Crazy how hot they are right now - last year it was easy to find new tri-way XM-18s for 350 bucks all over FB and eBay but recent ones are going >MSRP.

As far as finishes go I prefer SW. I have a couple WF blades (M390/20CV) and do occasionally get stains/spots/rust on them that need a little effort to remove. They also tends to scratch up more than the SW. Just my 2 cents.

I appreciate it. I’m glad I went with stonewashed.

Hinderer stonewash and working finish are both great. It is really up to personal preference. In terms of anodization, I find battle blue (WF blue anodized) looks the best, followed by battle bronze. However, if no aonodization is applied, WF blade and WF handle together tend to look dull (the main reason I sold my 3.5" skinny slicer recently), and SW blade and SW handle together look better than that.

If I remember right, the Halftrack Wharncliffe was (so far) a USA Made Blade exclusive. Scott is here on BF, you can ask him directly. Superb shop and knife (I have two).

Regarding other XMs, there are some dealers that will tell you what they ordered, and even reserve you a knife, some won't. What are you looking for ?

That being said, the BF exchange forum here is great. Just saw a good swedged spearpoint being listed ....

Roland.

I'm lucky to have a fullered flipperless XM-18, and totally love the fit, finish and action. However, the handle is a little too big for my paws and I figured a 3" would have been perfect. Meanwhile, I learned about the half track wharnie and fell in love with the shape.

My god, I didn't log on for a few days and I missed your message :'(

Man, I wasn't sure what I'd think of the Half Track, but what a great little knife. Action is perfect, and they look and feel amazing. Glad I've got two, now I have a nice small knife to carry in places with blade length restrictions. Pair of black G10/battle black-handled wharncliffe Half Tracks with working finish 20CV blades to go with my FDE G10/battle bronze-handled spear-point Eklipse with working finish M390.

Nice collection Madcap ! What I also like in the half track is that the flipper is more discret that on the XM-18.

Hinderer has a huge and dedicated fan base so I wouldn’t really say it’s bots purchasing up everything. Whenever Rick announces something in the Hinderer Facebook group the website gets overloaded and overwhelmed majority of times depending on the drop. There’s just an insane demand for his products. I absolutely love my Hinderer and after having dealt with their customer service and sending my knife in for service I’m a customer for life. Great company.
