Removing the LL Bean logo

I am not familiar with that particular project. My guess is that it is most likely our standard finish. The logo is either laser or possibly a process called pad print. (kinda like paint).
I hear what your saying Richard but I dont think this one is bead blasted although the pictures do look that way. A bead blast finish is not always the best platform for a lasered logo. You dont always get a crisp edge to the logo and the laser does not like the inconsistent finish of a bead blasted blade.
We can remove the logo by the way. We would charge our $6.95 "sharpening" fee. The end result would be that the knife looks just like it does now, minus the logo.

Well, I wish I would have read this post before I spent the last 20 min on removing my 105's tattoo.
So tired of it and put it the closet because of the logo (which is not displayed or described in the Bean site or catalog).
Anyway, out of paint thinner. Took a paper towel and some ferric chloride PCB etch (get it at Radio Shack).

I knew this going in, but want to let others know: THIS STUFF WILL CHANGE THE COLOR OF THE STEEL and probably take the chrome off a trailer hitch. I use it to bring out the contrast on some of my user Damascus knives (Google the words "ferric" and "damascus" and you'll see a few thousand hits).

So, anyway, I think thinner will do the job and not screw up the satin finish (yep, satin finish...not bead).

Anyway, still working on bringing back the polish with my little rotary tool but wanted to post the pic.

The residual logo is VERY faint and in fact the "LL" part is totally gone. The "Bean" is very faint. If I had rubbed a bit more I am certain I wouldn't see it at all.

Thanks TAH for reminding me of this by posting your question. Now I will start using this as my fixed EDC. Before I felt it was like I was walking to Junior High School with a "Care Bear" lunch box.

Goose, don't you have something to do?:D
Cracking up over here!

Well if your able to wipe it off, it is not a laser marking and it is most likely a pad print. (Unless Goose has some serious guns!!)

I'll find out for sure.

Good Idea Edbeau!
I did track down the manager in charge of this project and he told me the logo IS lasered on. I asked him several times, keeping in mind the fact that our friend Goose was able to remove the logo by hand. Remind me to never make Goose mad!
