Renaming the 25 to the Inkosi; what's changed?

The pocket clip on the 25 fell right between one of my joints, so it "cleared " any hot spots...on the Inkosi, it brings the tip of the clip up to my palm...kinda sucks, but i rarely "death grip" any knife, so, i'll be ok lol

Rather than a death grip, how about just a working grip like cutting up a box or are you saying it only hot spots when you death grip?

If you still had your 25 today, which one would you sell?

In my opinion...

At the end of the day the purpose of a knife is to sit comfortably in my hand and cut things. I don't like how open the Inkosi washers are on the large as I EDC so it's going to get clogged super fast compared to a 25 but if this clip makes it fit better I would still be happier.

I would rather have a knife that is comfortable than one that has some other features less important.

I'm probably not alone on this one but when I look at the lint stuck in my 25 I think why didn't they close those washers in? I was pumped the Inkosi would solve that.

I wonder how contaminated a regular gets.

One more question, can you effect the action by squeezing the scales together?

the angled pocket clip is what worries me the most. My 25 melts in my hand - so amazing comfortable.

I guess I'll buy one if they ever end up making one with an Insingo blade.

I'd like to see an Insingo blade in the 25. As it stands now, it doesn't seem, (to me at least), that the "improvements" on the Lg. Inkozi make it better than my 25.

I think the idea here is not for people happy with the 25 to sell it and buy a large Inkosi, but for people that did not yet have a 25 to buy an Inkosi over the slight improvements. Its like iPhones if you have an iPhone6 the iPhone6s does not enough changes to buy it, but the iPhone7 will. For iPhones its an every other year from the one you have has enough new features for a change.

For me I don't have a 25, but i love my small Inkosi. I would buy a large Inkosi over a 25 and was waiting for the slight changes it would bring.

Im really still trying to adapt to the whole package to be honest. The Inkosi is not severely different from the 25, but just enough to tell it is.

I will have to play with my grips on the Inkosi to state fairly whether its a normal working grip or death grip that induces the clip problem.

REALLY wish i hadn't sold my 25 a few months back...would be nice if i had both side by side.

Also, cant help but notice the glaring openings on the washers of the Inkosi. Im thinking they could have made those areas solid?

My biggest gripe so far is the unexpected slenderness of the body/scales. They milled out some from the top/spine and it made the knife skinnier. I have medium hands and it would be nicer with a fuller grip.

I know im repeating myself on gripes lol

Yes the slenderness bothered me as well. The clip position created a huge hotspot just by holding it in a normal grip. I knew if I have to do any type of work (cut cardboard) it would bother me immensely. I was so looking forward to the Large Inkosi but I will be sticking with the Umnumzaan, 25 and 21 for my large knife needs. And this is coming from someone who believes the best CRK knife (and the only one I would have if I could only choose one) is the SMALL Inkosi.

What size hands do you have?

I was really pining my hopes on the large Inkosi, as I could afford to go a littler smaller than a 25, but the small Inkosi is not even usable for me. I was hoping for a medium that would be comfortable to use, even if a tiny bit small but easier on my pockets and does not get rubbed by my seatbelt in my car as it's a pain to have to take it in and out all the time. Basically easier to carry since most of the time the knife is being carried not used.

So I'm kinda curious how you can fit both extremes comfortably I guess.

The open washers are a fail IMHO, compared to the small Inkosi. I don't know how they messed up that opportunity on this design.

I do like how solid the lockup feels with the ball groove on the blade tang compared to the 25.

I also like the extra rounding of the end of the tang where the ceramic ball glides off the tang, making it a little easier/smoother to close.

The pocket clip I feel is hit or miss, but I do appreciate that it doesn't rest on the lockbar.

I like the floating stop pin design.

However, the one thing that really bugs me is the second finger groove chamfering on the lock side doesn't match the show side. It makes it look unfinished to me. I hate it. Lol

The small Inkosi is great! Overall I think they didn't quite nail it on this one. I hope they will update it. One can hope, right?

Also, bring on the petition for a medium sized version!!

All this back and forth on the 25/Inkosi has me thinking again about that old elephant that's always in the CRK room: the 21 is still the winner (at least it seems to me). Maybe it just can't be improved upon in its ability to please "most" people. It's the ultimate neutral opinion knife ('cept for that darn locating hole). So much is so right about the 21 design, and for such a very long time. Still, getting back on topic, I look very forward to picking up a new large Inkosi when they offer a more subdued and affordable inlay version. It might not be perfect, but I'm sure it will get plenty of carry regardless.

aengina,

I really think but cannot prove that Chris didn't design this one. As you are saying, there are just so many little things I think his level of attention to detail would have caught.

It's not unusual for changes to be incorporated so let's hope the second gen large Inkosi addresses these issues.

I'm thinking I should have upgraded shipping. The wait for mine seems longer than normal.

Does the lack of a hex cap on the stop pin bother you on the presentation side? Wondering if that just becomes normal quickly.

Can you change the smoothness of the action by squeezing down on the scales due to the floating stop pin?

The stop pin cosmetics don't bother me. I kinda like it for some reason.

I'm at work right now, so I can't comment on the action when squeezing the knife. I will check when I get home.

I didn't carry it today.

I know it was already asked, but didnt see the answer:
Chris is no longer part of CRK? Why? He is retired or sold the company?

For the thread:
Lg inkosi has the same blade lenght like 25?

I have Large size hands bordering XL. The small Inkosi feels like it was made for my hand. I agree CRK NEEDS to put out a medium version and it would be amazing. Again I see the Large Inkosi as a fail, but that is just my humble opinion and I am sure it will sell great and others will love it, but to me the Umnumzaan and 21 are the best Large CRKs out there, followed by the 25. Again, if I could only pick one CRK to have for the rest of my life it would easily be the Small Inkosi

I'd like to see an Insingo blade in the 25. As it stands now, it doesn't seem, (to me at least), that the "improvements" on the Lg. Inkozi make it better than my 25.

Every since I got my 25, I've been dreaming of an Insingo 25 but the Inkosi seems to have shattered that dream.

But I'll gladly settle for an Insingo Inkosi (say that 3 times fast) ;)

Chris and Anne divorced back in December of 2014. Anne is now in charge of CRK. Chris is no longer involved with running the company.

The blades look to be very similar in length but I do not have measurements.

I'm size 10 numerically and also love the small but I didn't buy one as it doesn't fit me at all. The ergonomics are off for me so as good of a knife it is, it's of little value to me if I can't hold it comfortably. The 21 in small with inlay was ok but not great. At the end of the day for my hand, the ergos for the 21 are far inferior to the 25.

I was thinking the Inkosi was going to retain the ergos of the 25 which CRK obviously like as they kept them but make some small changes I would like. And all in a medium package.

So al in all I have a small hope that when mine arrived it will fit well but the more feedback that comes in makes me question if the 25 is not the keeper for me.

Now it looks like

I'm sorry to hear of your shattered dreams. That tends to happen when we create things in our mind in the image of our ideals.

On the bright side, it's a good problem to have!

I wouldn't hold your breath on the Inksoi Insingo.

Better get a 21 while the getting is good!!

To be fair, I just did a test with a few of my CRK folders regarding the clip problem.

I handled a Large Reg, 21, and Umnumzaan. The clip from them all falls around the same place on my palm. I guess we're all so focused on the Inkosi and every little detail about it, that little issues become amplified.

I think its the handle widths on these knives that dictate how much or how less clip pressure one feels. The Inkosi is ultra streamlined and i think a streamlined pocket clip should be looked at by CRK. They're using the same clip from the last 15+ yrs.

The Ti-lock says different!!

So are you saying the 25 is the most ergonomic of them all?
