I got the balance of the knives that I shipped to myself today, from the Rendezvous!! The top 3 in the pic are SFOs, and the fourth knife is a Stag #33,
that I've been looking for, for quite a while!!
And the next post gets to turn the page!!!

The French Kate is a commemorative of something called Pithole 150??? Refers to Oil Boom times I imagine!!

Pithole is just southeast of Titusville. The towns 150th Anniversary was in 2015. Pithole had a large influx of people at the start of the oil boom, once the oil there dried up Pithole became a ghost town as people moved out and went on the hunt for oil elsewhere.

This year's Event was a roaring success, despite intermittent, momentary rainstorming! Some of the old faces were there, and a lot of new ones which was very encouraging
for our hobby!! Meals together, and a great picnic full of good food and knife chatter made it a joyous event!!
I shipped my acquisitions, and they finally arrived, so I thought I'd start a thread for all to show off their celebration cutlery!!

ya in a flash, the oil boom struck at Pithole, and it went from an empty hillside to the 3rd largest city in Pennsylvania (behind Philly, and Pittsburgh). Then the oil dried up, and everyone left. Now it's an empty hillside again. All in the span of about 5 years.

That really is an interesting one, Charlie. I’m guessing it was made in 2015? I know they did some other shadow pattern French Kates that year (I picked one up in Oregon back in April).

Thanks for showing that Charlie . My wife decided that she liked the French Kates , or Ladies Leg Knives back in 2018 or 2019 , and she acquired a few of them .

And she also got a Pithole 150 in 2019 when in Titusville . Drakes Well had them .

Ron & Pam also picked one up while there .
