RENO 2007 - A sneak peak at some awesome blades.

Roger,Stephen, and all who contributed to this amazing thread:
Thanks for the stunning images and hoping everyone that's going, gets to bring home something equally appealling.
Peter,
Sweet fighter.
Jerry,
Prayers sent for your mom and wishing her a speedy recovery.

Doug :)

Just wanted to give a report from the show. Very good first day. Not sure if the crowd is as large as my last visit two years ago, however sales are brisk. In fact many makers have sold out.
I have meet several guys from BF and it's always good to put faces to names.
Good day for me personnaly as I was able to purchase Harvey Dean's EL Diablo Fighter and my four year order from Jay Handrickson appeared. STeven got his Bert Foster set and they are quite nice. Of course the show is not the same without Jerry.

Kevin, I know you're not into folders but take a look at Cliff Parker's folders, if he hasn't already sold out (cool knives) and tell him I said Hi.

Thanks for the update,

Sorry Joss, I failed miserbly in that department. Had intented to, but just too much going on.
Don, after seeing one of Ron Newton's folders today (blacklip pearl damascus/ photo posted on thread) I may become intertested in them.:D

OK Jones, we will resist giving you the sack, IF you get some decent images in the AM.

BTW, Congrats on picking up the Dean Diablo, clearly one of the juiciest plums at the show.

There were some stunners posted in this thread,Kevin you scored with the Dean That may be my favorite pattern of Harveys but we need a look at the Long Awaited Hendrickson!
and I Cant wait for STeven to give his report..Enjoy Lads!

Yea I agree with Keith.
Steven you said you were at the least gonna call me with details. Punk ass.

Kevin My heart just leapt at that horrible though i sincerly hope all is recovered and there is an acceptable explanation for that intrusion...

No, It's gone.....
I packed it in my checked luggage along side the Dean Diablo and when I picked up at baggage claim I looked inside and both cases were there.
When I got home I found the Hendrickson case was empty. They did not take the Dean. Thank god. I suspect they left it because it was too large for them to conceal and sneak out of the airport. They did not take the sheath either as it was in a different part of the suitcase.
I have been in contact with both Continental Airlines and TSA and both are trying to pass it off on the other. TSA says I can file a claim, wait 3 weeks for a claim # so I can track the investigation which could take six months. They said they didn't inspect the bag (only x-rayed it) since it did not have a notification left in it. I think if I stole something out of someone's bag I wouldn't leave a notice that I opened it either.
I had it photographed by Point Seven at the show which may help. I will call my insurance company and my attorney tomorrow to see what my options are.
It's ironic as several makers and myself were talking at breakfast Friday morning about shipping vs checked luggage and insurance and such. I had actually brought a box and packing to mail knives home, but changed my mind and decided to check them rather than going to the Post Office.
I will keep you informed as I get additional information.

Sorry to hear this Kevin. I just get furious when I hear this shit:mad: . Can't trust the airline's and that's why I've been shipping for year's now. I even ship my luggage. Good luck Kevin, MT

Very sorry to hear that Kevin, it is happening too much lately. I used to sweat bullets when flying with knives until I got this http://www.collectinsure.com/ now my knives are covered in luggage, truck, show table, shop, mail etc. and it's cheap insurance.

What a horror...Thieves handling Luggage ..I hope at the least you are reimibursed full value

I'm insured with Collector's Insurance and I hear they are very good with this type of thing. As I have never had a claim with them I'm a little anxious to find what happens when I contact them tomorrow.
And as you know, a custom can never be exactly replaced considering handle material, Damascus and such which make each piece unique. I haven't told Jay yet.

Kevin,
I'm sorry to hear about it. It really too bad. The guy wont be able to enjoy it even if he dont pawn it. Lin
