RENO 2007; Who's Going

I got the call from Nancy last night. Because of some untimely surgeries of a couple Smiths my name came to the top of the list. Man O Man! I dont know how to act now! The pressure is on to make something worthy.

Im heading to the Good Will store to look for a sport jacket

I wonder who are the smiths who had to cancel.

I'm not going this year.

Have a two-piece damascus set on order from Burt Foster to pick up, and am on the hunt for something special, just not sure what it is.

I get in on Thursday night, leaving Saturday morning, my pool team made a league-wide tournament that starts in the morning, and am so low ranked that my absence would be unforgiveable.:D

Really looking forward to meeting you, Kevin!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I will be there!!

Unlike Garsson, I will stay for the whole show:D pool league...indeed

Bailey,

If your horse jumping team, or whatever the heck you Texas boys do with your horses, made the championships, I KNOW that you would send one of your kids to "man" the table.:D

See you there, amigo!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I'm visiting some construction sites in the SAC area, then will drive up on Thursday afternoon, then fly out on Saturday. Hope the weather is good going over the pass  Two years ago on the way to the show I got caught in a storm going over mountain. It was scary to say the least.

I'm suppose to pick-up a Hendrickson I've been waiting patiently for 4 1/2 years.

There should be some very nice pieces there. Jerry's bringing some beauties.

I just drove down from Montana yesterday and going over Donner pass is the least of my favorites.I went over Lost trail Pass Friday morning and almost doo dooed in my shorts about halfway down the Idaho side.I'm pulling a trailer.
I am going to stay here in California until I get my house on the market and will try to be at Reno.Love the show but a bit short in the geld department.Well I guess I can hob nob with Garson and the boys.:)
Randy

i will be there looking forward to putting some of the names to some faces. well except for Randy, i am hopeing to forget that face>>>>>>>

......Love the show but a bit short in the geld department.Well I guess I can hob nob with Garson and the boys.:)
Randy

Gelt, Randy, gelt!

Geld is what they use knives on cows to turn them into "no balls" in Montana.

Don't worry, if you find something you like, we can work a deal, I'm sure. I'll buy you an iced tea and a burger at the coffee shop, anyway!

Hope you can make it!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I would advise AGAINST stoppping to eat anywhere named after the Donner party:D

Too close to the New York Show for me but I hope ya'll have fun :)
Don in NYC? Man, that's even more scary than me doing the "redneck in Manhattan" bit last week:D Are you going to strictly be showing folders (yipe!) or are any big, illegal bowies making the trip? lol

Randy,

I hope you do come down...It would be great to see you.

Garsson,

There are some who do jump horses here, but they wear funny pants and knee high boots. For me...it's all about reining!!

please post pictures, steven - hmm, i'd rather see the "before"-pics ;)

hans

Hans,

These pieces will not have any Garssonizing.

It would be virtually impossible, they have stainless steel frames, and Burt won't tell me how thick the stainless is.;)

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Yeh, I'm a bit out of place in NYC (I don't own a dress hat :)). I have taken a couple of my largest fixed blades to the NY show with no problems but it's the long bladed, springy folders that can be trouble

How difficult is it for the unwashed masses to attend Reno? I'm not that far away....

The attendance fee, if any is minimal.

It is a fun show!

Here's the kicker, a well-kept secret that I hope changes someday, but I doubt this year.

Guys like Nick Wheeler, Dan Farr, Tim Hancock, Larry Fuegen, Jerry Fisk....who have wait lists up the kazoo, have knives on the table, Friday morning, that are for sale at reasonable prices.

You have about 15 minutes to get to the table of your choice, and make a selection, because you are competing with buyers like myself, Randy Morgan(usually), Kevin Jones....if you try to meander in on Saturday, you will see 1/2 of the tables empty.

Best Regards,
