Soooo wish I could swing this show it has been a show on must do list for awhile but It isnt that easy..then the ECCKs on its tails..I will travel to one this year either Solvang Blade or AKI
dont cry any booboo tears for me though..just got a call from Tim Hancock

...and Burt won't tell me how thick the stainless is.;)

yeah, burt is one of the smarter fellows, isn't he! :)

i really envy you and all the others who can make it to reno. unfortunately it's 5615.44 miles from my place to reno, even calcutta is nearer. that's hard...

however, have fun!

Lookin' forward to seeing what you get from Tim.

Dont want to take this thread too far off topic
but Thank You STeven I am in fact leaning AKI..I'd welcome the Garsson Tour also one of the Chefs I trained with has a wonderful resaurant in La Jolla(Tapenade) which would be yet another must do!

I likely won't make it this year. Was a lot of fun last year though (except for my snowboarding accident a day later and the subsequent shoulder surgery). I highly recommend it (the show, not the surgery :D ).

Going to the ECCKshow for the first time and have to limit the number of shows this year. I tend to spend too much money when I go to them :o .

Thor,

I was hoping to see your face again this year, you will be missed. Try to make the AKI, that is the show of shows!

Thanks STeven. The AKI is the other big show I am planning on attending this year. BTW, by when do you have to sign-up for that one and how do you even do that (sorry to take the thread off-topic)?

I am also planning on going to the BAKCA show, but that one is only 45 minutes from my house.

Unless things change dramatically from years past, you can sign up until day of.

'Course then you don't get your cool personalized package, just a generic one.:D

To all you lucky bastids attending the show (particularly you not-stuck-behind-a-table bastids) PLEASE TAKE PICS!!!!!

Yeh, I'm a bit out of place in NYC (I don't own a dress hat :)). I have taken a couple of my largest fixed blades to the NY show with no problems but it's the long bladed, springy folders that can be trouble
Keep them under 4 inches and you will be ok....It is acually illegal to manufacture, sell or import(unless they are going right back out on the next UPS truck) the big lockers in NYC. I carried a small fixed blade concealed when i was up there. I tried to look up Mastersmiths and Barrett-Smythe when I was there, but could not find them in the white pages. I wish I could make it to all three of the shows coming up, but I guess I will have to settle for the Gator show in Lakeland and see you guys at Blade or at one of the hammer-ins this spring.
