replacement blade for Chinook3?

It is your knife, and you can do what you want, but cutting into the Spyderhole will weaken the blade a LOT. I believe Sal said about 40%, but it may have been more. That's why he asked that we stop doing that sort of mod.

I have waved a couple of mine, but without cutting into the hole.

ooookaaaay? i a little confused how an almost 1/8" thick blade that stands about 3/4" tall will weaken when a little cuto out is put in. There is almost 9/16" tall x (almost) 1/8" thick of solid steel left under the hole.

i wonder why my little paper thin Wengers that are MUUUUCH smaller and thinner still have'nt broken yet.......

im not worried about breaking the blade, i dont ABUSE my knives (like batoning, prying etc). i cut/slice with them.

just saying...

Think of an arch made from 100 stones carefully fitted together. Let's say the arch will support a load of 1000 pounds. Now remove the keystone. 99% of the stones are still there, but how much load do you think the rest of the arch will hold now? If you guessed it would collapse under its own weight, you would probably be correct.

By all means, excersize your right to modify your knife. But if repeated violent kinetic openings cause the blade to fracture from cyclic stress with the arch of the spine cut, don't say we didn't warn you.
