Spark doesn't have time to babysit these forums; he runs two businesses, and barely has time to breathe, let alone read B.S. like this.

However, like I stated before; he is available to speak to by phone. All you have to do is call him.

If you really think that your beef with the rep system is valid, then go to the man himself. Stop whining here. All of your posturing isn't going to get you squat from the moderators, except maybe an escort down the plank. We run this place in accordance to the policies Spark has developed, and if you don't like the way he has things set up, then, like I said; go to the man himself.

Put up, or shut up, William. Lets see if you have the intestinal fortitude to personally speak to Spark about an issue that you so passionately disagree with.
 
What I don't understand is why the rep system is such a big deal to some people that they have to continuously harp about it.

If a person is a dick in a thread I will ding them. If a person is helpful or posts something that gives me a good laugh I will give them good rep.

It wouldn't bother me if the rep. system was done away with, but it also doesn't bother me that we have it.

I guess a lot of people have really dull lives and have nothing better to whinge about.

I look on the bright side, it creates threads like this which usually give me a brief laugh or two!

I have to go to the mall soon. (Have I mentioned before how much I HATE malls?) When I come back I think I'll have a little whinge about it. Maybe I'll think up something else to whinge about while I'm there.
 
If you don't like the rep system then why don't you turn it off?

Well it appears I may be mistaken and it was with the old software it could be turned off, either that or I overlooked the button.:grumpy: I went into my CP and checked all the options and didn't see anyplace I could turn mine off.
Doesn't matter anyway, if you don't like 'em just ignore 'em. I've got my rep points from all around the forums and I've given as many as I've gotten.:D
And a helluva lot of 'em to folks I don't know.:p

And while we're at it, I might as well ask you about the negative points you left me in another thread a while back, a thread to which you hadn't even posted. You dinged me without explanation and, of course, true to nature, without signing it. That's about as "without provocation" as comes to mind. Oh, OK, I guess you mean that you can hand out negative points any time you want, for whatever reason or even for no reason, but a respected moderator can't ding you for being a liar. Have I got that right? :rolleyes:

When somebody invites you into your home, do you whine when they ask you to remove your shoes? Do you put your feet on their furniture? Do you bitch when they ask you to use a coaster? No, you follow the rules and be polite.

Well, at bladeforums, you're a guest in another person's home. Don't bitch about the rules. Or pony up and become a paying member. Paying members get their own romper room where we can yell as loud as we want, track mud on the carpet, and there's no V-Chip on the television.

If you don't like it, you're welcome to leave.
 
For the record, I haven't dinged anyone on this thread. I say it again, Average, join up, a Basic membership doesn't cost that much. Have fun, man, that's what I'm doin'. Actually learning some things, too.

It's a great way to trigger people who are concerned about petty things to post and bitch about their rep points. Or more succinctly, it helps in identifying petty people.

Boink, faramir, and roughedges are "has a spectacular aura (150+)"

Na, every village needs an resident troll for entertainment. We have ours. I ding her every chance I get. She has done the same (dinging old posts of many members) long before I started. Now she comes waltzing in after not posting for a couple of months to compain about something she began. :yawn:

I haven't called him. But you seem to suggest you have spoken to him allready and that you are aware of his position on this issue.

I stated previously: It is merely a mechanism to show either support or dissatisfaction with a particular position or, a method of retaliation when some idiot has been educated. And, that it bears no relationship to someone's knowledge of knives.


As of this time no one has disputed this and I assume he doesn't either.
 
That does not make sense AG.

A person can be a total jerk and know a lot about knives. They are going to get dinged. :D

A lying troll (WW for instance since she has pulled her antics longer than any) is going to have a bad rep. She has the worst one at B.F. She has been here for a while and earned it. One person does/did not decide that. It was a whole bunch of people.

As far as the chicklets. Grow up man. Have some fun here and make friends. Yup I have some surpurflous chicklets from friends, but I have been here a long time and have met a bunch of folks face to face (to thier utter disgust :D), done a few things now and then to help folks out when I could, made one or two enemies along he way, actually make a decent thoughfull post now and then and might make some folks laugh (while others want to throw up) every once in a while.

Yup looks like reps are based upon friends and conduct here. Seems pretty straightforward to me. Now what exactly is the problem.
