[Resolved / Arrived] please help: received parcel without knife, what to do next?

Your item says “delivered” to LA. That isn’t the final destination, so a green bar and “delivered” doesn’t mean you should have the package at your door. Unless I’m missing something, the package could be somewhere between LA and your residence in Canada.

That's what exactly I understand, and so I think a new tracking number is more reasonable, otherwise, according to the tracking number and status, I will never be able to see it.
The sheath one, only shows "Delivered" at final step once it's been delivered, otherwise, there will always be grey bars behind green bars, and with next status and destination above the grey bars.

Are you tracking through USPS?

since they provided 2 tracking numbers, yes, i track both numbers in USPS, and track one of them in Canadapost.
coz
one of the tracking number is US domestic another tracking number is International
Today, just now, I was told: the knife and sheath were shipped in separate parcels:
- one includes knife & lanyard, not actually arrived though displayed "Delivered in Los Angeles" in USPS website, as final destination - according to the status in USPS.
- one includes sheath, has been delivered.

Ah. Sorry, I missed that one parcel was shipped domestically. I’m assuming that is the one in LA.
Sorry I couldn’t help here.

I wouldn’t worry at this time yet. Give it a few more days. :)

Ah, seems s/he is the one replied me in Spyderco forum, thank you!
I am in the east part of Canada.
But now the situation confused me is, according to the latest email reply:
- they sent 2 separate parcels, 1 is knife & lanyard, 1 is sheath
- the sheath one, @tazkristi replied me with a trackable international tracking number, it has arrived
- the knife & lanyard one, the tracking number is US domestic, in Feb it's been "Delivered", no new tracking number provided, no status update.

I think if they provide a trackable tracking number for the parcel with knife & lanyard will be better.
Otherwise, according to the tracking status and numbers, I can see now is one is "wrongly delivered to Los Angeles", one has been delivered to me.
If it's a USPS tracking number from Colorado to Eastern Canada you should be able to track it on the USPS page and also the Canada Post page contingent on the service level. And yes when a tracking number is live you can follow it all the way. When it hits the border you should see it's been handed to the CBSA for inspection.

I wouldn't expect it to go to LAX but who knows these days. I would kind of expect it to go to Windsor/Detroit; I know if I have something coming from the Eastern US USPS gets it across the border at the nearest port of entry and then Canada Post takes it across the prairies.

My first hunch would be is you've got the wrong tracking number. But for a package that's gone badly astray the best folks to find out what's going are are in Golden.

Thank you for the replies ;) I will wait for more days too.

Exactly, so that's what happened to the delivered parcel, can be tracked step by step, arrived Los Angeles, Hit the border, clear custom, etc.
So I am so worried about the knife and lanyard.

At the beginning, I though I was given the wrong tracking number, so I checked with Spyderco Forum, they provide a new one - the one with sheath only.
Now the original tracking number provided is still "Delivered" in Los Angeles, and they said there is no new tracking number for it, but just ensured that's not the final destination. 😅

BTW, do you have any advise how to check with Golden about the parcel status? Please advise if there is.
Thanks for your replies.

Kristi at Spyderco who I tagged in here is the best person to let know about the problem. I'm not sure how often every day she comes here to see what's new.

Thanks, s/he replied me in the PM in Spyderco forum, she will let the person from Spyderco I sent via email take this issue and Kristi is for marketing only - though s/he helped to provide new tracking number.

BTW, I just made a comparison of the 2 parcels, apparently, one of them is different...:( But I was told just wait for 10 more days.
The records are downloaded from USPS.com

Pretty much what I see whenever I get something these days too.

Just relax and hopefully the other pkg will get there. With everything that is going on in the world and potential customs clearing it may be a bit delayed.

thanks, because of the different format of tracking number, I thought it was using the wrong service or deliver to wrong address.
Now, the spyderco just give me another email with a new tracking number, the format of tracking No. is same to the one I received, and it's trackable now!

About a year and a half ago I shipped a knife to Canada. I received a tracking number from USPS and got updates right up to getting a package delivered notification. This is where the problem began. Canada Post delivered it to the wrong address and wrong province. Both I and the receiver contacted USPS and Canada Post. Long story short, it disappeared into ether. I did have it fully insured so I figured we were covered. Unfortunately, Canada Post refused to say that it was lost and USPS wouldn’t payout the insurance unless they did. I have never shipped to Canada again😡. I hope you have better luck with yours.

I heard similar experience when using other national "standard" Postal Service for international mail / parcel, like United State Postal Service, China Postal Service, Canada Post, etc.,
Since the carrier changes after crossing border, if there is incident, e.g. lost or damage, there is space that carriers can bargain.

Hopefully the online dealers can provide more options to customer to choose other carrier such as UPS, DHL, Fedex, etc.
