UPDATE: Have been having a calm discussion with ExtraBaconPlease ExtraBaconPlease to settle our differences. This issue, thankfully, looks to be resolved.

Better communication, patience, and understanding could have been used on both sides of this deal. Tensions definitely flared, but I do believe EBP can be a reasonable dude and his track record beyond this one instance shows he's a straight shooter.

Otherwise, his drunken postings are just that - I've been there myself after one too many tequila shots. I don't think he'll be making that mistake again.

No grudge or hard feelings on my part, and thanks to BF as always.

He deleted everything in the sales thread. I leave all but the price up until i hear from the buyer (or a good amount of time) so there is no confusion about the description or what the item looked like.

According to the OP and messages, bacon never posted it on the Exchange. Ludgwig saw an old post in which bacon was the buyer. Ludwig contacted the buyer. See quote below:

Full story - found a listing on the Exchange here for a nice stag handled bowie that sold already and shot a note to the buyer, ExtraBaconPlease (EBP), to let me know if he ever wanted to sell.

The imgur photo seems to skip the first few messages. According to the messages, the knife wasn't posted on the Exchange. So there must be some missing messages in which you ask to buy the knife. Was selling the knife a favor or did he really want to get rid of the knife?

The knife looks beautiful. I can not see the flaws in the imgur photo. The photos are too small.

The blemishes were not deal breakers.

You say they blemishes were not deal breakers. And in your messages it was not clear what resolution you were seeking until the end when you said you were returning the knife.

I read the emails and the discussion seemed to be focused on ethics rather than a resolution.

At the very end it got nasty. Not saying that it didn't. But I can see how all the accusations could cause some frustration. I'm not excusing the nasty comments. But I do think that it would have worked out better to focus on a resolution instead of focusing on each others ethics.

He didn't need to swear of be rude to you but you circled the defects in the pictures he sent you to review the knife sure there is a communication issue here but at the same time you were shown the defects before you purchased it. ExtraBaconPlease ExtraBaconPlease may have his own issues and not be a pleasant person but he didn't really cheat you here. Your questions failed to accurately address your concerns as they were broad and vague as were his answers but that is to be expected.

Throwing up a warning flare here after a poor experience dealing with ExtraBaconPlease.

TLDR: I bought a custom knife from him, received it with some blemishes that he failed to mention prior to the sale, tried to tell him about, he refuses to acknowledge, I ask for a refund, get cussed at . . .

Almost two years away from the hobby, finally have the time and stability to get into knives again, and my very first deal has to be with this guy *sigh*. You can see my feedback: buyer or seller, no deal is done in my mind unless both sides are happy.

But not so much with ExtraBaconPlease. If you ever have a problem with him, be prepared to file a PayPal claim

It's nice to see you back, brother! I had noticed that you'd been gone for quite awhile...sorry you had the misfortune after all this time, having to deal with this type of BS.

Having personally transacted with you, I can attest to what a stand-up, professional guy you always were, to deal/communicate with.

The one refreshing thing about you coming back: when I first joined here, you had the same user profile picture of your wife. Five years later, I'm really stoked to see that you're both still together. :)

ExtraBaconPlease: "Now f*ck off and don't message me again, maggot."
^ Which military branch did you serve in? :D

^ I disagree!

It's the seller's responsibility, to be forthcoming; to accurately & honestly describe the condition of what he's selling... Buyer's shouldn't have to play a 50 question guessing game when purchasing a knife.

This is a perfect example of why, you use PayPal Goods & Services. PP's Buyer Protection, is worth that extra small fee they charge when using their services. I had to use it for the first time on another forum. The knife I used was described as mint/unused, and arrived with all kinds of signs of obvious use. I contacted the seller trying to work out an amicable solution...but had to end up filing my first PP dispute, then wait approximately 2 weeks to be refunded.

I'm pretty certain that I know, whom, PayPal would side with here.

Has ExtraBaconPlease ExtraBaconPlease been notified of this thread? Definitely some miscommunication going on here :(

~Chip

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I've done nothing wrong and refuse to talk to the buyer after the way he has carried on. I'm letting Paypal sort it out because I can't with him.

It's not even resolved and already i'm copping this shit lol.

No i didnt. Go look at my sale threads in the Busse section and the production knives. I NEVER DELETE MY STUFF AND AM QUITE PROUD OF IT. THANKS.

I'm not a bad person at all. Quite the opposite. You read this blokes story and assume things automatically. Cool. There are plenty of blokes here that would vouch for me, i aint worried about this chump for a second.

None, just live down under mate.

Have to agree on the resolution part. I don't think this all needed to come to this - not taking any sides; just seems like two members with a good history now got a bunch of drama. But alas it has. kind of a shame.
