I always put a handwritten thank you with each knife I ship. Sometimes I wonder if I should type it up and print it instead, but for some reason I have this vague notion that it is more meaningful for it to be handwritten, even if my penmanship is barely a step above that of a child. Sometimes I crumple up two or three notes before I finally end up with one that possibly won't give someone a headache trying to read. Or is it better to just type it up? Looking for opinions. Thanks.

Practice makes perfect. You won't get any better at script if you don't practice it. It's just another set of muscles you need to use to push the pen.

You cold compromise and do a half pre-printed cart card with a few notes at the end.

I would suggest against a cold cart. 😁😜

you got any samples of said handwriting.
I like the personal touch of a hand written note, but I work with some of the worst hand writers in the world (not verified, but highly suspected).

alternative, find somebody with decent writing to fill in for you.
second alternative, type it out and print it, make sure it doesn't look like a form letter, and hand sign it

The personal touch is certainly going to have more impact. The type wriitten could just be a geneneric copy.
I have recieved a few hand written on ebay or amazon items and they were the ones I took the extra effort to write reviews for- in general I don't write reviews on Amazon and Ebay items.

I don’t expect nice handwriting from guys who shape metal for a living. A handwritten note regardless of neatness is an appreciated touch. A short typed note with signature is also great. I also realize that folks are less likely to do so with the convenience of communicating via email or text.

One of my most treasured knives came with a bit of information about the steel/handle and knife care which I like.

Even a business card with a signature is appreciated. I find it strange to open a box to find a knife with nothing accompanying it like a business card.

I appreciate the time to hand write a thank you, I even saved one that was written on a paper shopping bag and then ripped off, it’s a great thing to keep with the knife. I can read it so the handwriting was good enough!

I appreciate the personal touch, it makes it feel like you fashioned just for me rather then mass produced it for, well the masses.🤔

Fair point.

Fine. Here. I’ve had better days. Worse ones too.

These feel like cheating me.

Learn calligraphy and make a skill out of it.

As much as I love the idea it’s not really feasible for me or for this purpose.

Also there are text to handwriting apps.

Also feels like cheating.

I appreciate the replies. I got a hand written note on a printed card when I bought my last kettlebell and steel club and I appreciated it. So I guess that’s just the way for me to keep going for now.

David, have you tried all caps to see how it compares? I pretty much write in all caps or cursive...suck at trying to write lower case.

Looks fine to me

I like the ones that I have received......

I would keep doing it.

I've thought about doing something similar, but still not sure What?

Firstly - yes, you should keep writing notes by hand. I go a step further and send post cards with the orders with handwritten note on the back. Used to buy them from the post office but wasn’t really happy with the pictures. So I bought some photo paper and print them at home, using pictures I took myself of cool places in my country.
Second - your writing is not that bad. Getting a better pen would help. Here is one that makes writing easier, is pretty comfortable and on the cheap side https://www.amazon.com/Uni-ball-Sup...=1697057901&sprefix=Signo+blue,aps,314&sr=8-3
And lastly - if you write the same thing over and over again your hand will tend to make less detailed symbols, if that makes sense. At least mine does. Try writing different messages as personal to the customer as possible.
