Heard today Bob Lum passed away yesterday. The knife community has lost a very friendly and influential man. May his soul rest

Bad news indeed. Prayers for his family and my wonderful BM 745 will be with me today. :(

It is a sad day... Bob had been fighting brain cancer for a while. He went in to hospice a few months ago. When they found out he had the disease, it progressed very rapidly. Aside from being a very famous knife maker, Bob was a genuinely good person. Very polite and very humble for a man of his accomplishments. Having known this for some time, it was not my place to talk about it in public, which was very hard to do at times.

My first "Real" knife was a Seki Cut Bob LUM 105S in D2. I wish I had one of his customs.

Peace to his family........................

Sorry to hear the news, quite a talented designer. May he rest in peace.

His legacy will outlive all of us. I'm EDC'ing my blue Spyderco Lum Chinese Folder in his honor.

He contributed a great deal to our world (those of us interested in knives).

In addition to his designs, he was one of those who set the tone in the knife world.

Rest in Peace.

Bob Lum was my friend and more importantly my husbands friend and mentor. He was one of the most humble spirited men I have known. He was a master craftsman, and an artisan not just in cutlery, but in photography and music as well. We have been honored to be counted as a friend, and are better people for having had his friendship.

We will miss you deeply Bob, you will have a place in our hearts forever. I know that you are eating some fantastic sushi right now, and getting ready to grind some blades for the heavenly host.

We shall see you soon, Bob, save us a seat at the banquet table.

This is an email from Jean Lum. If you are unable to attend but would like to send a card, flowers or other remembrance, I think you should mail them to the church. I think this will help the family not be inundated at their home.

Wow..... Sad news.

RIP Sir and thank you for your insight in the world of knives.

It is always sad to see an artist die. My condolences to his family and friends, and I hope he shall be remembered long for his contributions to modern knife-making.
