Rethinking my flash light purchases.

Dale, with the CountyComm $1 coin cell lights, I just carry a few in each pack. At that price, they're probably disposable. ;) The orange bodied ones are easy to find and the red LED ones help preserve night vision.

I've also added an E01 to each bag as the basic go to light.

Agreed on the CountyComm lights. At that price, they should be all over the place. The one with the clip on it is great on your hat brim.

as for backpacking, try out the LD20

Its not the most light, but for 2AA batteries it is one hell of a light

I've looked at that one alot, and have for some reason not gone back to it. I dont know if its all the settings I dont like( im a pretty plain guy:o) or what, but that was one thing I liked about the E2DL, 5 lumens in a tent is plenty enough, plus I usually have a small key chain light of some type. Its nice to just have a light dangling from the top while your setting a bag up.

I know for a long time I used a light with 40 lumens output, it was a Dorcy, nothing fancy but it worked. I even used it smelting last year, its was in the water for hours it seemed like, and it was a little messed, but the next day it was fine.

But the 40 lumens was plenty enough in dark woods, however what I'm looking for really is an urban light, and something that can be taken with in the woods, but its not priority.

whoa...you have smelt in your neck of the woods? :O are smelt not a salt water fish?

you mentioned Urban use for a light. Keep in mind that the Urban setting is already bright, with many different lamp types (street lights etc) washing out your own light. I've had a 200 lumen light look like nothing more than match in these conditions.....total washout.........something to consider.......

Joezilla, I bought one of those for my brother for Christmas to upgrade him from a AA Maglite that he used for work and he loves it. To get approximately 180 lumen from 2 rechargeable AA is amazing.

I'm waiting for the 600+ lumen TK40, that should be coming out this month, to add to my current lights.
