Retreating; or where to find freedom.

I am a native Texan that travels extensively throughout the country on business; I've spent time in all but a handful of states. I find it difficult to be objective on this subject, but trying to judge fairly, I believe there's no better place to live than Texas. After all, there's nothing finer than an ice cold Shiner!

Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not
have, nor do they deserve, either one.
(President Thomas Jefferson)

There are two freedoms, the false, where a man is free to do what he
likes; the true, where he is free to do what he ought.
( Charles Kingsley)

You know, I for one think it's pretty sad that any American should even have to post a question like this. There was a time in this country when all the states were pretty free, and an American would choose one based of the terrain and availability of work. The west especially was considered almost frontier up to the time I was a kid, and there were few restrictions on what a man could do. Now there are places that our parents and grandparents wouldn't believe are America, they're so controlled.

I'm thinking of Idaho or Wyoming myself, since where I live in San Diego is getting worse every year. Every year the liberals gain more power, place more restrictions on everyone, and raise taxes to pay for it. They justify it by saying " We know what's best for you: it's for your own good." But that's California: I know there are some other states that aren't that way (yet), and I'm looking at moving. Sure, I like the weather here in San Diego, but I don't think it's enough to hold me here anymore. The only reason I've stayed this long is to be close to the big VA hospital we have here, and I'm starting to think I should just take my chances elsewhere.

Happy 4th of July everyone.

I know i am bias but I gotta go with Texas......I may not be able to carry a slap jack or baton......but shame on the person that brings one to my gun fight.......Drew

Amen Brother.

I thank God I left Kalifornia 20+ years ago and never went back.

Washington State is somewhat run by Liberals, but is a "must issue" state. As long as there' no criminal history or mental issues, they MUST give you a carry Permit

Other thing is I can hike all day (sometimes a week) and never see another human up here. That never happened in CA. :)

Prison Bitches we all are....

I live in Idaho, and it is pretty good.

Shall issue, open carry allowed, even sort of encouraged....

Most of the police are very cool, they definitely use a healthy dose of disgression....

But, we are getting Californicated faster than we can ask what DP means anyway....

"Where am I going? And why am I in a handbasket?"
