I just found a shop in the town, where a few oldskool blades hide...:cool:
namely a Basic 3, a Basic 7 and the ergo BA and NO...all assym. edges.

I've never held an ergo model, so the incredible comfort and feel striked me...you all know THAT feeling...:D

The BA seemed a nice "do it all - and a bit more" blade. The only thing what disturbed me slightly,is the blade thickness.

What are your thoughts about the ergo BA as a user camp - whatever- knife?
(I'm not a collector, just keeping knives what I use or most probably will use...)

I had one and loved it, sold it to a good forum bud otherwise I would of kept her. Was a great do all, and felt real good in hand. It will even chop ok for a blade so small, delimbed a dead xmas tree with it and had a blast. It is on the thicker side but atleast with the ergos Ive owned, the edges seem to be a bit more thinned out then modern busses in that thickness. It sliced cheese pretty well too huh Pokester!:D

ps, what they asking for it?

Great find! I'd take them all! :D But I don't have a BA-e so I can't comment on its usefulness :(

Assym. edge never made any sense, so that would be the first thing to get "fixed" on a user. Besides that "Ergo" series are the most user friendly knives that came from Busse shop. Ergos are comfortable to work with and good performers in woods. Not worth collecting as an "investment". Get it and use it,...if you do not like it, you can try to sell it on the secondary market:)

That post sure was filled with lots of certainty :D

I have had those knives, honestly the Basic 4 is a better knife than the BAE.

Now the NOE that is a nice one. :)

Never mind

I have used my BAe extensively, especially on game and can truthfully say its the best skinner/processor I have ever used.

After handling the B4 now, no its not better, its another knife entirely, not in the same league as the BAe. Apples and oranges.

"Better" is always subjective, always.

Ikkyo, if you have the chance to get an example of the E series, go for it! You will not find a better example of what Busse is about. :)

Asymmetric edges are super easy to maintain and in my experience have been one of the best hard use edge grinds to date. Its different yes, but give it a shot.

Good luck!

And that is your opinion.

I stick to mine

Never mind, please delete the quote Dave, your right.

leatherman, those were my feelings, too.
The Basic 4 is a different and useful knife, but the BA-E is really another class. I get what you mean.

dericdesmond, the price is a bit steep...around $500 for the BA-e, and $600-650 for the No-e....maybe they realise that in these prices the knives will sit another decade in their shop...

ikkyo, yea, that does seem a little high, but overhead does come into some of that I bet. But there might be some negotiation room there as well. A nice BAe could go for as high as 400 if it was as new or had some different than normal handles and such. But a standard one I'd not spend more than 350 for. Might throw an offer at the shop keeper and see what happens. The knife is worth the trouble, the BAe and NOe are special in their class. I have both and both will be the last I would ever let go of. A rubber handled knife would the the first, imho and has been when I decide to let go of something. I just dont value them as much imho.

I just dont hold a Basic in the same league as a Combat Grade knife with micarta handles. imho (for Dave ;) )

All Opinions, my opinions, and only my opinoins. I am not going to say something is better just because I think it is so. Apples and Oranges. A knife is only worth what you are willing to spend on it, I have spent a lot on certain knives, and not a lot on others. imho. :p

Best of luck on your negotiations!! Please post pics if you get one or two, or three....... :D

8,000th POST!!!!! who wants a free B4 sheath?

My grail knife is a ZTBMe. I held one once, awesome blade. I'd love to get one. It kicks these newer BMs right in the butt.

I think for a versatile user, you wouldn't go wrong with the NO-E. I absolutely love the ergos, and will admit to being prejudiced, but my good old SH-E still always goes afield and has done everything from the finest cutting to chopping chores. I don't have a BA-E, but I do have the NO-E and it gets plenty of use.

Just one lady's two cents' worth! :D

My favorite busse is the zero tolerance natural outlaw it just fits my hand great and It's thin I also love the badger ergo but it had to go to get this

Yeah, what's interesting about ZT ergos is they don't come up for sale too often... i guess that means people really like them. i gotta get one.
