Hope this is in the right forum. Question, when sending a knife to Benchmade, is insurance enough? or sign upon reciept too? what do you folks suggest? Yeah it is a Shoki, my first brand new Benchmade ever. Thanks much.
I have never had to ship any of my knives to Benchmade...yet How are you shipping it? If you use UPS, the tracking # will give you a confirmation of delivery and signature of recipient. If USPS, insurance and perhaps proof of delivery. You automatically get $100 insurance on your UPS package, so you would want to add additional coverage if you feel compelled. Forget tracking a package with USPS, it ain't happening.
I sent my 705 in for their Lifesharp service just last month. It didn't even occur to me to ask for a return receipt. I just stuffed it in a padded envelope and mailed it. Maybe I'm not paranoid enough?
I only sent one knife back to Benchmade and i believe I did not insure the package but did a delivery comfirmation. Everything worked out well and BM customer service did a great job and quickly. Not sure this is the best advice but it worked for me. Insurance is like playing poker....at the end of the day, usually the premiums are more than the damages. That's why insurance companies make money. Depends on your risk tolerance and how much you want to roll the dice.
