Return to the everglades

You should come down in August, Joe. Enjoy the *real* jungle feel.

I've played that game before. We went down in July one year. Though 40 snakes a night on the road was undeniably awesome, the onslaught of the mosquitos was not. It was really fun from an Entomology perspective. I'm hoping that life will let me revisit the glades and the keys in the summer, in the near future.

One word for next time, during the hot months though: PERMANONE

Right now I have poisonwood all over my hands and face. It is so much better than poison ivy, the itch isn't nearly as caustic and cortisone takes care of most of it.

Great pix. Tnx!! The Easterns are awesome snakes.
Snakes need all the PR that they can get!

Let me know the next time you're coming down.

AFAIK, there is only one gecko native to Florida, the Florida Reef Gecko. The rest are all considered naturalized/invasive, I believe. Theres a big problem with invasive reptiles and amphibians in florida... perhaps the worst offender being the cuban tree frog. The constrictors make the news but the tree frog likes to devour other species at an incredible rate.

There was a show on last week about the Gambian Pouch Rat invading the Florida Keys. Damn thing is like 5 lbs!

These teasers will have to do for now!
Man, i know its Christmas... but whats the statues on the rest of the pictures, have been waiting to see these pics since you opened this thread...
