Review of the "NEW and IMPROVED" Spyderco Police CO7s

The issue is not that his opinion isn't valid. We all like what we like and we have every right to that. The issue is this guy joined a wonderful forum to make one salacious post bashing a well liked company, never to return. He's not in this hobby. If he was he would know that a fair amount of quality knives have a multi-position clip option. If he cared in the least about what we do here he would have seen how we discuss, debate, and research knives. If this was such an issue that he would take the time to join up and write a long post berating Spyderco he should have spent that time researching the newer version of the knife. But no. He spent only enough time on this project to look at the picture on Amazon, which admittedly is wrong. That said, if he bothered to read the description on Amazon it says it comes with a four-position hourglass clip that supports fully ambidextrous left- and right-side, tip-up or tip-down carry. Is simply looking at a picture a good way to research a product before you buy? Nope. Should you assume that a knife you bought 20 years ago will not change? Nope.

Yeah Spyderco changed his favorite design. Sorry, but you don't always get what you want in life. It is how you handle a situation like this that defines character. Look how he handled it.

Agreed. Although, to be fair, the OP *might* be preoccupied with T-day plans and thus not responding. But it is suspicious when someone signs up, posts one negative complaint, and runs. My Police models don't have the extra holes, but even if they did, it wouldn't bother me enough to not want the knife anymore. It certainly doesn't affect the performance of the knife, though I like the clip where it's always been.

Doubtful, but maybe. Another poster alluded to several other places he posted this "review". This to me is clearly a hit and run. If only he actually read the description of the product he bought this whole thing could have been avoided. Might be better off that he does not come back....

He didn't say he didn't want the Police anymore. He said he's carried a Police for a long time and was disappointed with the new Swiss cheese version. :barf:Can't blame him. The termite holes are ugly.

An opinion can't be wrong. I didn't state anything. I said they're ugly. That's my opinion.
Get a grip.

Which grip? The old Pro-Grip was discontinued in 2005. the Benchmade Griptilian is available but still has three unfilled holes so it would not pass your critical inspection.

Why so serious?
You need to relax, guy.
Take a pill if need be.

Man, some people...you'll get old before your time at this rate (in my opinion...hey, now I can't be wrong! :D).

I've been a huge fan of the original Police model for many years. I love its slimness and the hollow grind and that sweet click it makes upon locking open. Because I'm left-handed, I've collected several of the left-handed variations, including the carbon fiber versions. I've attached some grey 3M stair-tread safety tape in the shape of a rattlesnake on the non-clip side of my preferred carry of this model, to give a bit more purchase on that smooth steel. Great stuff, that tape--it stays in place through even the sweatiest handling. I'm very happy that the current version has a four-way clip option, but I worry that it devalues my collection of left-hand-only Police models. Thanks for the latest version, Mr. Glesser. I plan on buying one soon. Ever consider making a waved variation now that it can be carried tip-up?

On the subject of policing, how about a return of the Rookie? I like the sabre grind better than FFG, but the Police is a bit much for me for a "pocket" knife.

well that's why I truly blessed to own the classic police recently :D

IMO classic police appeal more to me than the newer ones...

greetings,
and I thought I had a problem. took my military w/digi-camo handle and tried to open a locked truck door. wedged the blade in and gave it a healthy whack with my hammer trying to pop the door. snapped the handle right behind the pivot. would the black g10 have held up better? any experience from you guys why one color would have been weaker? now to my endure. working on my f-250 transmission so tightened the blade up in my bench vise and thought could hang the trans off the floor from the handle. you guessed it, lock failure big time. so along a broken knife, I have a cracked trans housing. now wondering if should have used my para2 with the compression lock. any thoughts? I know these issues pale in comparison to ranger10 having a new police with too many screw holes but just wanted to share. best regards to all.

I think a crowbar would have served you better. Not sure if anything you said pertains to this topic though.

Personally I like to bedazzle all of my tools. Makes my socket wrenches close to useless but they sure are pretty.
