So this weekend my brother and I went to visit Richard and stay the night in Ohio at an awesome B&B. Richard is a machine on the Paper Wheels and he let me try my hand at them as well. I need a ton more practice. Anyway there arnt enough people that take as much time as he does to help you out with whatever sharpening questions you may have, much less invite you right on over to show you it all. I plan on going back as soon as I can. If you need a knife crazy sharp send it to Richard he'll do it right!

Richard is a stand up individual. He is willing to share information, and he has taught me alot. He also is very generous. He is worthy of more than a few thumbs up. Yes, he can sharpen.
 
Richards knives are as sharp as his character and generousity. :thumbup:
He's a real good guy and knows his stuff.

Did i mention his knives are sharp? :)
 
Put one hell of an edge on my Dua! Yes Richard its still sharp! And ive been using it! So yes your edges do last!! I totally believe you now! Ha! Need to get some more knives out to ya. Happy Holidays to the RJ Spa! And thanks for being our sharpening guru!
 
Granted Richard can sharpen to a "demon edge"...but he can also unf*** up just about any edge. I've sent him a couple of knives now and he never ceases to amaze me with his level of work and courtesy. If if needs fixing or sharpening Richard J is your man with a plan for your edge.
 
I have to hand it to the man as well, Richard is a wonderful individual.
Not only did he convex two of my babies for me (which I must add were given a superb edge), but he is one of the most patient and friendly individuals that I have ever talked to. Hands down, I do not believe a shall be sending any of my blades to be sharpened/fixed to anyone but him.

I cannot thank him enough!

Definitely a stand up individual in the knife community. Just got my Kinzua back from him this afternoon, and he sure did one hell of a job. It cuts like crazy, and I can see myself in the edge. :thumbup:
 
Really nice to hear such nice compliments (about such a deserving individual) these days - it is rare.
Richard bends over backwards helping all and welcoming the interested into the art of sharpening giving selflessly of his knowlege and experience. It is his art as well as a vocation yet he will show you how and advise you how to get started in the hobby.

I'm really glad this thread popped up on a day when I reached out to someone about getting some blades sharpened and he passed me on to Richard with and said I was in good hands and now I see all these compliments so I know he was right. I have a very jacked up Kershaw Outcast and I'm hoping he can get it shaving sharp for me and judging by your feedback on him it won't be a problem. Perfect timing guys-thanks
 
I also had 2 knives come back from Richard very sharp to say the least. He is a great guy to work with and the price he charges is very reasonable!!

Yah bro I am pretty sure you wont have to worry about it coming back sharp haha. A knife he convexed for me I brought back and was able to push it down through a kevlar glove!
 
A nicer and more helpful man you'll not find. Richard has time and time again gone out of his way to help anyone who asks.
 
Every comment here is absolutely true. I doubt that there is an edge out there that Richard can't improve.

I have a Hanwei Tac Wak that will push cut newspaper thanks to him.
