Rick Hinderer Knives Picture Thread

Two of my newest acquisitions, the already photographed snakewood inlay Firetac, and my newest 3" Flashover w/carbon fiber inlay. I love both of these knives. Something about them (other than the fact that they are insanely hard to find!) speaks to me even more than the XM series.

(sorry for the crappy iPhone pics, I'll get better ones soon!)

Pure awesomeness. For the life of me, I can't figure out why Rick quit making those.

After seeing these in person, and owning many XMs, I'd venture to guess that it's mainly due to manufacturing time. I'd assume with the inlays, intricate patterns, etc, that these older pieces took longer to make, and with the newer design (XM), they can probably turn out more pieces. And given the demand for Rick's work, that's always a good thing!

I like to think some new variants of the older work may exist one day...in a "never say never" type mindset.

Nice knives.

For example the blade shape of the Flashover does kind of resemble the shape (not overall size) of say...0560 / 0561?

I can envision Rick once again revisiting some of his older designs, they are pretty timeless. But knowing the little I know of Rick, he wouldn't do everything the same, he is constantly looking to improve and change so they would never be the same, they would be all new models in the spirit of his past (e.g., beefier standoffs, a new feature, a larger pivot, etc.).

But, I think he has other ideas and inspirations kicking around in his head, I am sure he wants to get to those too.

IMO.

Exactly what I was suggesting. And I'd be delighted to see them and elated to own them.

A few NEW EDC Rotation....Carry XM-18 3"
I have to say; The XM-18 3" in any grind is just the best pocket friendly knife I own of the Hinderer models and I have owned a few..
Just simply impressed by my new Flipper. Changed scale- Tune up..Flips just remarkably well..With just a bit of wrist action..
LOVE MY 3"..Now I need to get me a SLICER........

Gizmo, I use tuf-glide on my XM and it works beautifully. No wrist action needed and it doesn't gunk-up the pivot as much as other lubricants.

Ordered some Tuf Glide Thanks buddy---Precciate Ya............;)

You'll never look back at other knife lubricants. Just don't put a ton on there- maybe two drops on each washer.

After 4 weeks of almost constant rain and heavy storms we had a few hours of partly blue sky. (roll on summer)
