This is the perfect balance 3.5" XM-18 imo. It's a custom/hand ground slicer with a blade stock and standoffs of an XM-24 aka "XM-18 Fatty". Handle is textured cf. This is my grail XM-18.

Can we get some more photos of the fatty? Especially spine shots? It's a mini crowbar with a Slicer grind, say what???

Love it.

Let me say what so many will want to say even if they don't post it....that is Awesome, thanks for the additional photos.

Thanks Emel! :)

The scales for the FXM where made by Cuscadi. It's always amazing what they can do.

Here is a closeup.

Very nice photos, Matze30v.

Here's a little change of pace, my new checked-baggage air-travel companion.

Just received a very cool addition to my Hinderer collection. A XM18 3.5" production Spanto grind, custom anodized Ti frag scale, blue anodized beadblasted lock side, with a unique addition...a bearing system at the pivot. From all the info I have collected so far, the bearing mod was NOT done by Hinderer, but instead done by another customizer. I've heard that a couple of makers/customizers may have offered this modification at one point, and I don't have positive confirmation on who did the mod to this knife. I know this throws the Hinderer factory warranty out the window, but I had to have this knife anyway. And boy is it smooth in deployment! It's ridiculous at how fast this thing fires out with just a tap on the flipper. For those of you with both a ZT 0560 (KVT bearing system) and an XM, imagine the XM being smoother and faster than a well lubed 0560. Another thing that's impressive about this pimped XM is the anodizing job done on the Ti frag scale. It's been done to flow with the shape of the individual squares of the frag pattern itself, and contains at least 3 different anodized colors (light bronze/gold, darker bronze, and blue/purple). That means someone did a lot of taping off/masking to put this pattern on.

A look inside at the added bearing system.

Wow! That's some very cool anodizing!!!!That took some big cojones to do that ball bearing mod!

Yeah, it did. And just to be clear, it wasn't me that did it. I received it this way. I'd make a mess of things if I were to even attempt a mod of that nature!

Its a prototype of a future production model. The sneak peak was posted just before Blade Show. Search back and you will find more pictures of the older prototype.
