Rick Menefee Knives...

Jim, that is an awesome collection of Rick's knives!

Thank You, Most of them are still "fresh as from Rick" But I use some of them hard in the yard and garden. A couple are at Ricks's for a spa treatment that were REALLY used. Rick even made that comment, he loves when his are used as well as most other makers.

Rick,
You were right about the original photo having a forgery in it. :o
I grabbed the wrong SB, the other one was by K R Johnson, but I found yours. It was the first one I ever ordered from you and the first of the acorn shields I got. It is now seen in the picture below, right above Keiths' SB.

Good eye my friend,
Jim

Jim, is the swayback in this picture micarta or ebony?

That swayback at the bottom,whatever it's covers are,was made by K R Johnson,not Rick.
It looks like cocobolo,to me

I guess I needed to be more clear, the shadow swayback that's second from the bottom. That blade stamp looks like Rick's.

Rob,
I'd say black linen micarta on that one.
-Vince

That was my first guess, but it looks like there is some wood grain at the bottom (though it could just be the light).

That's another nice thing about linen micarta,it has a nice "wood grain" look to it.Look at the trapper above it,same stuff, different photo angle & different condition.

Yeah, but I don't like micarta and I'm thinking about having Rick make me a knife with ebony, so you aren't supposed to be talking me into micarta. ;)

Go back a few pages & check out Kai's ,Nick's,African Blackwood shadow dog leg. That is some gorgeous stuff Rick has

Yeah I've seen it, how do you think it would look on a saddlehorn?

I personally think it would look better than Ebony, since the particular material Rick has,has real nice figure & some varying color, somewhat rarer, harder to find like that.
I think they consider the blackwood as good or better than Ebony,as far as "holding up",to useage.

I'll have to see if Rick has more of it.

A closer look at the knife in question, I still do not know the material, but think Vince is right.

That one could be paper micarta. I'm not so sure it's linen, with this new view
Great knives Jim & Rick

Its black paper. I will post a picture of a 3 5/8 saddlehorn with ironwood and bolsters tomorrow that is being shipped out. My cameria is down. I have not made saddlehorn in maybe a year or so.

Thanks Rick, I really want to see that. I need to make my mind up!
