Rick Menefee Knives...

I should have known there would be a Menefee thread. I posted earlier in the Traditional section. Here is my latest from Rick Menefee.

Thx, Todd

Looks like only one picture down loaded. You can see the rest in the Traditional
section under - My new Menefee knife.

Vince you get great knives !
Did you play a part in the design for this N.Y. Folding Butcher ?
I have an awesome Menefee Butcher FB and the blade profiles are somewhat similar.
But this FB is feeling lonely for little brother folder so please contact me for immediate sale:D

Thank You Roland for the kind compliment

Yes I had a hand in motivating Rick to build a knife like that, But we were both inspired & motivated by a slicer knife that T Bose made for me,at the end of the year in '09.
First Rick made his version of it,like yours, then he made shortened up versions, hunters (posts 471 & 490).
They are seen earlier in this thread. Then the folder. Again, that is Rick's rendition of a T Bose BP,w/ a semi skinner. Basically Rick's rendition of a single blade Panama trapper.
When Tony makes a knife & Kerry shows it,it lights a fire under, & motivates both knife enthusiast & maker alike !

Vince, those are all super nice but the black handled one stands out as Amazing.
Rick makes these with a fairly thin grind so the blade has some flex. Coupled with a hair-poppin sharp edge the entire length, and it's the best butchering knife made.
Everybody could use one, even if you don't butcher, because it's amazing as a kitchen meat carver.
Rick, you better start making more. i bet there's going to be a bunch of requests coming in. EDC = Exceptional Dynamite Carver !

Roland, yours is 1/8" stock The black one & butterscotch is 3/32" & a little more flex than yours.

I agree,very useful knives for food,fish & game.

Glad to show the pics,
-Vince

Rick those kitchen cutters make a guy want to take up cooking. Just for the tools if nothing else.:thumbup:

Roland, you and Vince can come over and cook for me anytime but you must bring your toys.:D

I love those semi-skinners. My Good friend George englbretson made me some maybe 15 years ago and i use his knives a lot of the time. I like 4inch boning knife and the big semi-skinner in the kitchen. I have made two semi-skinners for myself the black-handled one and rolands and I sold them instead of keeping them. Dowell made a fixed blade one of his first or one i will always reminber that makes me think of those big butcher knifes. Rolands butcher was one of the best grinds i have ever made i could not bring myself to keep it.

Rick if you really do regret letting this knife go, i'm willing to send it back to you.
We could figure out a good trade.
roland

I have know regrets. I can make more. Thanks for the offer. I really like those knives everybody should have something like them for home use.
