Ridiculous budget blade-4 dollar Ozark Trails folders, good blade-pic heavy

I don't know about the factory, but I know at my Walmart, the Buck lookalikes are a different brand than the ones we've been talking about. Doesn't necessarily mean it's from a different factory, but based on how you describe the knife(uneven grind, splotchy paint, uneven pin) I'd say it's probably either a diff factory or at least made to diff standards.

All of the $3.87 knives are made at the same factory.

I wasn't talking about the $3.87 knives. The person I responded to mentioned the lockback one that looks like a knockoff of the Buck 110. Not a one of the $3.87 knives I've seen look remotely like the Buck.

The lockback is merchandised separately from the holiday feature. Most people are talking about the 12 foot long pallet train, but the lockback is on a jewelry spinner on the sport goods counter. Still $3.87.

Just picked up 2 for the hell of it. One flips great but the other one barely opens at all with the flipper. I guess the detent it too weak.

I looked them over today at Walmart. The liner locks didn't look very thick and they seemed to be all over the place. Even at 4 bucks I wasn't interested.

I looked at the spinner(that's where I found the tanto that wasn't on the pallet train I first saw), nothing that looked at all like a Buck.

4 of my buds bought these knives and just love them. One guy EDC's his!
For this price, you buy one for your enemy!

My guess would be, then, that I have 24+ pieces in the back room that will never see the light of the sales floor. Stuff gets from China to the store faster than the back room to the floor.

I think some people just have to buy something, no matter what it is. I have too many knives to be buying these. After all the steel has been stated to be junk. What was it the designer said, he didn't know? Bottom of the barrel, maybe even the barrel itself? I did look over a few of them and they seemed pretty junky. IMO. No insult intended if you like them, I myself just can't see the value even at 4 bucks.

These knives are build decent but the other night I had the lock fail on me so you need to watch the lock up mine runs just on the corner of the right just a heads up.

Picked one of these up for a beater. Not bad, solid lockup no play. This knife would be great had they used better steel and raised the price some it took me forever to get a good edge on it and I'm sure it won't last long. The flipper however doesn't work unless you put a good bit of wrist action in it.

Got one today. It's ok but the lock sticks and the flipper sucks. You really need a LOT of wrist action to get it open. On the other hand the thumb studs work great. It's a toss up for $4...I'd rather have nylon handles and a better flipper IMO.

I'd rather have better steel over all else for $10 or so. I've never had steel that chipped during sharpening before now.

I agree, my recommendation was for keeping it at the same price. These aren't really targeting people who can tell you about different blade steels so if the price more than doubles they will almost certainly not do as well.
