Photos Right Handed Chisel Knives non-Serrated , Flat on Left

Yeah I get the idea behind it, your video showed it pretty well. Going by that logic/principle, if you combine a chisel grind with some nasty serrations you could go for maximum "ruining a muggers day" factor I think?

Veff serrations are ideal.

Hey craytab,

Who made the knife featured in your post? I saw pictures of it on a thread a long time ago and cannot seem to find any information on it. It looks like a uniquely purpose-built knife and has piqued my interest.

As a side note, how well does it function (i.e. do wet vegetables still stick to the blade while slicing)?

Thanks,

oldmanwilly

That is a Carothers potato knife he's using there. Furthermore, I'd appreciate if Mr. Craytab would send it back to me, its rightful owner, post-haste. :D:D

Indeed it is! And no I won't.

@oldmanwilly Not only do wet veggies slide off, hunks of cheese do as well! I love this knife for all sorts of prep work and the chisel grind is a key factor.

How delicate is the edge, Cray? Would I need to keep it away from my wife (she's hard on kitchen knives)? If I were to find one someday, that is...

The edge is delicate. I can see it flex a bit when I touch it up. But that is what makes it a fantastic veg knife. Edge geometry is fantastic.

My wife is hard on knives too. I do the majority of cooking and cleaning so this knife stays safe!

Hey Ed, Send that baby on over to shiny. I'll trade you Mecha Mecha for it. He's really a great guy, he makes cool stuff from titanium!

Mad man Charlie Mike, King of the freehand chisel grind. Matt makes an awesome knife, from bare bones to pretty, all his stuff is meant to be used and up to the job. The man has an intimate relationship with his blades, he knows every grind, every edge, every curve. He makes the knife (his kitties just watch ;) ) and he knows his steel, he knows his HT, he knows how to do a single bevel chisel grind freehand better than most anyone else around here.

He eats, sleeps and breaths his blades, he knows what they can do resulting in giving the customer what they want and not what he felt like making. Although the knives he makes that come from his own paranoid nut job self are mostly my favorites, Here's the Mad Hungarian he made for me a while back. It's my truck knife and sits between the seats where it's been called to duty frequently and performed without fail, no matter what I put to it. It's Carbon V so it's not indestructible but darn close.

The other on the far right of the pic is a Warren Thomas/Beretta Collaboration called the Avenger (hate that name  ) A Carbon Fiber VG-10 laminated blade, done similarly to the rotors on an Apache Helicopter. This is the second scariest sharpened blade I own.

I like the bit of belly CM gave that blade! Very nice! And it looks like you've put her through some tough times Ted!

Okay, thanks! I'll have to get you to make me one someday soon! Did you get your CNC up an running yet?

Not yet. Still need to find a heavy equipment mover to lift it.

Those chisel grinds do tend to walk on you when trying to cut. I recently bought a Deba and Sashimi knife both have chisel grinds, it takes a little getting used to prepping food.

CMFTW knives should be present in Blade Runner 3 and Mad Max 5. But with solid antiqued vintage leather sheaths. And in case of BR3 with some Russian words engraved on them.

Yup. Love it.

Thanks Mecha. Coming from you, a maker of such BA cutting tools, that means a lot!

Why thank you good sir. :]
