I started this one this afternoon. I have something in mind for it but am not sure just yet.

Is this one for you or for a customer?
ps I found that if i pull your ouparator out of my pocket in the right way the thumbstud catches and "waves" it out of the pocket. Pretty awesome. found it out completly by mistake.
 
Yeah, I noted that on my own on an occasion or two and it only seems to be true with tighter fitting jeans. I do love the studs I use but most makers and many end line users would say they are too long for the knife when complete.

But believe me its done as it is on purpose. One of my pet peves with many knives including my Sebenzas is that my thumb often times misses the stud altogether when trying to open the darn thing and personally that drives me crazy faster than it being a tad too long so I go with what I like.

As for your question I really don't know yet. I'm waiting to hear.

Does the ouparator come in blade proflile other than warncliff? As in drop point?
 
I've never done any other blade in it nope. What I have are already made up blades that were all done at the same time and can't be changed.

I did some a while back in a lockback with a drop and clip style blade but had to just about give em away Jay. The Wharny sells and usually pretty fast for me so I stick with what worked mostly.

bell if you give STR's warncliffe a chance it is a very versatile little blade! My ouparator bumped my sebenza out of my pocket! I have EDC'd it for a few weeks, and it has only gotten smoother with use!

Wow thanks guys. I'm still quite humbled by you all saying one of my knives bumped something as great as a Sebbie.

Finally got some progress done on this one to move on to others that are stacking up. This one is for I.V. and coming along nicely so far. Slow, but gettin' there. Just a few more steps on this one and it will be on the way to you my friend. Sorry for the delays.

Its still a little ways to go yet but sure gettin' close.

I.V. you will be happy to know I got your folder knocked out today. I still need to carry it and make sure of things but it will probably be in the mail tomorrow to you.

Its too late here to take pictures in sunlight so I'll do that in the morning sometime and post then. In the meantime these shots will have to do. Sorry. Got late on me.

This is what I consider my best knife personally and if I had my way it would be the only one I offer period. This is a true STR bare bones get after it user. No bells or whistles, no special steel, just 175 year old 1095V cutlery steel thats been around forever. A knife more likely to be pulled out to be used instead of pulled out to be shown off if you know what I mean. That is what I'm about. Over time this blade will age with its owner. There is something truly nostalgic about that in my opinion.

Anyway, end lecture. :yawn:

The overall length is 6.5" open and the blade is a 2.5" flat grind Wharncliff of course. Closed length is 4". Weight as shown is 2.7 ounces. Your folder sports .020 thick nylatron washers in the pivot which is a 3/16" size stainless barrel and T7 size screws. The barrels making up the rest of the folder to squeeze it all together nicely are 1/8" stainless with 2-56 size screws. The folder also sports one of my signiture low rider titanium pocket clips.

Oh and in case you are wondering from the pics. Those lock relief cuts to spring the lock are .065/.067 and the stock of the handle thickness is .110 and 6Al-4V titanium. Compare that to anything twice its size and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. It may be small but it should hold up like a small tank. Thats the hope anyway.

Needless to say my friend I'm going to worry and wonder about this one once its in the mail on the way to you in Israel. Hopefully we won't have to go through the ordeal we suffered through with the one you returned to me. Cross your fingers and look for better digital pics tomorrow.

Ok then. I guess I need a breather before starting in on some Emersons next.

I got it yesterday evening and was instantly very impressed! The size is perfect, it's comfortable to hold, feels very solid and sturdy and is wicked sharp.

The lock is a bank vault, super strong and super secure. Action isn't too smooth yet but even after one day's use it's definately getting smoother.

I took the Ouparator to work with me today and already got it working on cardboard, plastic wrapings and zip ties. It cuts like a demon and really is dream to work with. It's nice and thin in the pocket and the clip is great as well.

What else can I add? No wonder this little knife bumps sebbies out of pockets :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Little concerned on the action Itay. Whats going on there? I thought it was smooth before I shipped it. Are you referring to the lock action or the pivot of the blade? Just curious.

No worries about the action. What I meant was that the action is fealt on the washers (on the count of being new). There's nothing that I can call gritty. It's getting smoother and smoother the more I work it.

Mine was the same way. I found there was just a little dirt on the detent. wiped it with a oiled qtip and it was fine. Steve i must say that this knife is just getting better and better as i use it. The lock covers just about 95 percent of the blades width. Its awesome how it essentially renders this a fixed blade.
 
Right you are, I just put a tiny drop of oil into it and it's now smoother than silk.
 
Yep those carbon blades tend to get to a point that once the ball works a groove in their that it channels from blade travel as you open and close it that a tiny dab of oil does wonders. I usually use TuffGlide on that and run it right quick through it while its still liquid and then let it sit so it puddles in the channel the ball travels. Once this is done you can use it when its dried.

The blades are thin. In fact that was the appeal to me to try it that way and see how the thicker lock worked out on the thinner blades. I carry one myself and its pretty nice. Its a lot older than all yours also.

Was at the Spyderco forum and i v, proudly showed us his new knife, which led to this thread. He said the blade sreel was 1095v. Is that the same as the long known 1095 carbon steel?
 
Kind of but what I have is some I got years ago at a gun and knife show that is supposed to have some other elements added making it basically enhanced 1095. That was the sales pitch anyways. :D

I am about out of it at this point. Sold off a good bit to a friend a few years back when I thought I was going all stainless. Never should have done that. Live and learn though.
