Right hander 1095 Ouparator

Does it hold an edge well? I know years ago I when I dabbled in corbon only, the knives held up well. (but rusted) I still have one slip joint in 01 I made.

I've never had a problem with it rusting. It will stain and develop some character and that well known patina from age which to me is one of the best things about it. I like a knife blade that ages with the user personally but I always liked carbon steels. I'm sure it will rust if its not maintained or dried after use. Things like blood, will stain it when cutting meats and things like that but it usually changes the most the first time and then stays pretty much the same after that.

On most of the ones I've used I've noticed that if you use them for cutting tomatoes and other things like oranges or citric fruits you can dull down the edge pretty good and fast but they keep cutting somehow.

Its not S30V or VG10 edge holding but they do well and cut quite good making up for the fact that they may not keep up quite as well with those or D2 for edge holding but are much easier to sharpen back up than anything else I use. They respond quite well to the sharpmaker in my experience and are very satifying to use after just the medium hones without the need for the ceramic white hones at all. I rarely do much more with them than the utility edge except for my wood carving ones. Those strop very well and are quite good push cutters.
