Right tool for the job?

Craytab, You will of course notice I said "forums" and did not say only THIS forum. I was also using the term "professionals" sarcastically, as I thought most would pick up on. Obviously I was too subtle... In addition, knives are used in more self defence situations world-wide than any other weapon. Of COURSE there are better weapons out there, I'm just tired of the constant knife bashing as a real tool for self defense. If you can't carry a gun, don't let people tell you that a knife isn't viable. It is.

"professionals"? What are you talking about? I don't see many "professionals" here. Just some average folks on a knife forum. Most of us would agree that a knife is better than nothing but just about the worst option for self defense. Last ditch effort at best. I don't carry a knife for primary self defense. I have a CCW for that. I use my knives to cut mostly non-living things, what I like to call cutting "stuff".

Wasp spray? had to google that as I thought it was a form of new pepper spray. Lol it's genuinely a can of wasp killing spray!

Keep one of those in the car for the wife me thinks. She hates wasps.

And for the unaware, I'm a large built 220lb'er with no 'training' on how to use a defence tool. But I'm also not an muppet with the hand strength of a patient on their death bed or aesthetically 'prey' material - tattoos, shaved head, red neck/biker esque garbs etc paint a different picture to the gentleman I actually am. But none the less, stupid people will find a reason to cause an altercation and the need to be told off..

Some people think....
Bad guy with a knife,that wants something for free = Superman.
Good guy with a knife, that maybe is fighting for his and his family's life= dumbass that's going to drop dead as soon as he grips his weapon.
Yes there are thousands of variables, and I do carry a sidearm, always. But there are some places that are restrictive of firearms.
Don't under estimate a very aggressive man, with a big knife, fighting to protect his family.

That showed up sooner than expected. And as a primary/only weapon I'd agree, there are better, however getting it taken away? Gangsters, punks, thugs and even untrained lightweights have killed with tiny knives like box cutters, and your saying that a 7 inch combat knife is a bad idea? There are better, and there are worse (wasp spray, waiting for LEO). Especially if he doesn't have to clear the threat out/go hunting, this would be a pretty solid ambush weapon.

And FWIW, the Mec-Gar 17 rounders work fantastic, and give you an extra round with a bit less than 1/8" more hanging out the butt of the gun. Yeah, I'd take a CZ over any of my blades, any day of the week.
