Rike 1507s I material

Wow, you guys are great (not the bored clowns with no life though).

It's purrrfect now. Glad they stopped me from grinding on the ceramic ball.
This knife now works fluidly exactly like a $285 knife should. No more sore finger tips . . . yipee!

I know some said to bend the lockbar as it wont break and others said don't do it . . .
I'm a rebel at heart so I took it apart again and found out what was stopping me from bending the lockbar out a little to take some pressure off the ball detent.
It was the metal tab (picured to the right of the pivot hole in the top case). Shows the black ceramic ball there too. It was held in place by one outside screw. Once I removed the screw and metal stop I was able to bend the lockbar a little outwards and reassemble. As expected I went a little too far
but I simply opened it up again and went back to 1/2 of what I went out the first time.

NOW this beautiful knife works exactly as I know how it was designed to open. A slight flick of the blade flipper and it slams in position almost as fast as my assisted knives. And I can still feel a click as the ball drops back into the hole in the blade when I close it.
I'll go back in after I get a decent lube for my knives. For now Im using a dry lubricant (sentry tuff glide) that I use on my guns. Great stuff, no oily residual dripping off in pocket. but its not a grease that will last longer.

So all in all, this knife is da bomb now and thanks to many of the members who chimed in with their help . . . check out the pic of it's innards and check out the link of it on knifecenter.com of this exact knife and color . . . I love it . . . now!
I don't know how anyone would settle for a stiff knife that they paid $285 for without seeking out whats wrong with it. I know if I sent it back to the factory it might come back the exact same way, only months later from China.

Now I know that a small Sebenza has a somewhat slow hydraulic type opening movement/speed after I got my first one a week ago and I was taught by members here that a Sebenza is not a flipper. But I knew this Rike was a flea flicker and I wouldn't give up until it worked as designed.

and P.S. I also read that squirting soda water up your ass is incredibly refreshing for the right type of members here;)

That is fabulous!
I'm glad that you got your knife working puurfectly!

The only thing I would recommend is to change out the steel lockbar insert every 3 months. Rike has a maintenance program that you can sign up for on their website. Since the detent is attached to the insert, you need to change it out more often than most knives.

Rike will take care of you. Just tell them that I referred you!

And buh bye! Poof you gone!

Glad you got it to where you like it! I find that after modding a knife it becomes more special to me.
For lube I use Benchmade's Blue lube and I also use Finish Line Extreme Fluoro which is available at the dominant online marketplace. Looks like there are a number of similar greases that come in a syringe.
If you lube the detent track it can help quite a bit.
I see what you mean about modding it and it becomes part of you. For this one it was more like tweaking it. Two days ago it was someone elses. Now after tweaking it . . . Its now “me”! And instead of re-selling it now it takes its rightful place in my collection.
Thx

This is interesting. Rike got back to my warranty service request. Luckily I don't have to send it back now as its working as designed. but I had figured they would want me to send it to China rather then their Brooklyn NY address which is probably mostly a distribution office.
I'd be intererested from hearing from a members experience if they ever had to send their Rike knife back to China for service.

Reason being is . . .I'm new to this knife hobby. I sent my small Sebenza back to CRK for their spa treatment and they said to expect a 4-6 week turnaround (or maybe she said 4 weeks) and thats to Idaho, not China. I'm in no rush as I have 9 other folders now to tide me over.
But I've ordered stuff off ebay or amazon that came directly from china and the items came a few days! I've had new iphones shipped directly from China come to me in two days!

So I wonder if these Chinese knife companies that want to compete with custom or manufactured knives in the USA, if their turn around time is quicker than a month. Even Benchmade tells you their warranty turnaround time is like 3 weeks.
Be interesting to see if the Chinese can do it better or having to send a knife back all the way to China for sharpening, warranty work, re-anodizing etc . . . I would think would deter many from purchasing one.

** and notice the name Richard Wu as the addressee . . . how cool would that be if my knife went directly back to the designer himself Richard Wu?
Check out Rike's designs on their home page. Their knives a simply beautiful with their anodizing of their blended colors IMO. If you see a Rike in someone's hand you instantly know when it's a Rike design (or a Chinese knockoff hahaha).

I just replied back to their rep with these RIKE questions:

Hi Sandy
Thanks for your reply to my email. As it turns out I found a fix that worked from some of the members in the bladeforums.com forum.
My issue was the lockbar was way too tight against the detent ball when knife was in a closed position. I was able to take some of the pressure off and now it works as it was designed too and I love it and plan adding more Rikes to my collection.

I did have a few questions you could answer for me since Im so new to Rike knife ownership:

.1 if I did send it back to you at some point what is your turn around time shipping back to New York?

.2 How much would it cost me to have a knife like my 1507 re-anodized if need be in the future.

.3. I own a Wicked Edge sharpening system and I plan to do a mirror edge on this knife. What is the angle of the edge (in degrees) you put on this model?

.4. Some companies like CRK and Benchmark allow owners to send their knives back in for a free lifetime "tune up". Other than the shipping, what will your company do for current owners for a similar type of service if you offer it at all?

He is free to ask? And if somebody else comes round asking for feedback on Rike his reply might proof useful if he gets one. *shrug*
I think the problem is the degree of incomprehensibility of the requests. This could regress Sino-American relations to the Cold War era...;)

I'm not entirely sure who CHK and Benchmark Knives are...

Well, at least he changed the "CHK", still not sure who "benchmark" is though.

Interesting. I can't find where they offer a free life time tune up. Oh well, I'm sure the OP knows better.

This knife positively SCREAMS "lifetime" to me.

From the KC description: "This is definitely a knife you want with you at all times that can also be pressed into tactical use if necessary."
I think it even has surgical grade steel.
