I just got word that long time member and knife maker Mr Frank Niro passed away.

Frank lived in Kamloops, BC and made art folders. I know that he slowed down during his last years and was not making as many knives but I did get to handle some of them. Some very nice work.

Frank hung out here in shoptalk where he was never shy to give his opinion, or to share his experience.

RIP Frank. You will be missed.

RIP...Mr.Frank Niro.....You will be missed.

RIP Frank. His contributions have been very helpful to me and others I am sure.

I gasped when I read this.................... Frank bought some files from me a couple years ago and we struck up an email friendship. I'm grieving for the world's loss.

I am deeply saddened by this news. I use to correspond with Frank by email quite often which then turned in to countless hours on the telephone. He always was very gracious about sharing his knowledge. You will be missed and always remembered! I am forever grateful for the wisdom you shared with me.

R.I.P my friend!

Sorry to hear the news. He always seemed to bring sage advice here. Praying for his family.

This makes me sad, I always appreciated his insightful and contributing comments on this forum. May he rest in peace.

I'm really sad to hear that. Frank and I became quite good friends over his last 6 months. I spent a day in the shop with him this past summer where he taught me how to make liner locks, and took years off my learning curve.
He had sent me an email at Christmas, I sent him one a day later and never heard back. I had been worried this was coming...
He will be missed.

This is really sad news. I really appreciated Frank's helpfulness and willingness to give guidance. He will be missed.

I’m so sorry to heat this. Frank inspired me to share in this community. He reached out to me when I first joined here and sent me a pyroceramic platten for my craftsman grinder. Just a great human being all around.

Frank you will be missed. We need more people like Frank in this world.
