RIP Mikhail Kalashnikov

Skrapmetal,
I agree an AK cannot be blamed for murder, so conversely, it cannot be blamed for saving a life (on its own), however, all I'm sayin is there is nothing wrong with MTK taking pride in his AK invention, due to it being used for good, to help innocents defend their lives. However, it is gravely wrong, for him to feel bad, or guilty/etc, due to its misuse by evil ppl.

Wrong or not, I can't say I wouldn't at least ask myself the question when I reflected on my life. Sort of how a cop who kills someone who was intentionally committing "suicide by cop" would, or a driver who hits a drunk pedestrian who runs out infront of them on a freeway. Fault or not, being connected to the death of others can hang over your head.

He started designing assault weapons at a time when the Nazis were the immediate enemy, and he did express digust at their use by gangsters and terrorists. But it also worth remembering that he worked as a weapons designer throughout the cold war, and therefore the major preoccupation of his lifetime career was developing better ways to kill americans and their allies.

:thumbup:Right on Brummie!
