So I was looking at all my jeans today and I realized that they all were torn/worn out in the same area.... The front right pocket :P Kinda annoying because the jeans I own are $150+ does anybody else jeans suffer from the EDC :P ? What do you guys do to minimize the damage by knives, or do you not care?

Eventually the pocket clips wear a hole I noticed in the pocket but not about to give up my assisted folders.

By the time my pockets get too ratty looking, the rest of the jeans are pretty worn too.

The only real solution that I have seen is when pants are designed specifically to hold a knife. These pants by Sitka gear have a reinforced area where the clip rides on the pocket.

It's a tell-tale of a blade lover! If you have nice jeans that you prefer not to have that look, a slim, clip-less, gentleman's folder is always best.

I didn't use a full G10 knife for a while because I worried about this, but now I think it is the clip on my knives that I carry that cause this as pretty much all my EDC's are ZT's with frame locks. Yes, it is the sacrifice and sign of a knife user XD

My pants are all like that, but I've never owned $150 jeans so it doesn't really bother me. Heck, I'm thinking of taking the big step up to $50+ Duluth Firehose pants and that will be the most I have ever spent on jeans/work pants.

Take one old pair of jeans and cut a whole bunch of 1"×2" patches and sew that over the pocket lip on all of your new jeans.
- fold that patch over th lip and hold it in place with a pin and throw some saddle stitches in it. When th patch wears, snip the string and replace.

$150 jeans saved from the sacrifice of old old pair.

Mind you I buy jeans that are usually under $30, but my mind just works like that. You needed a solution, you got one.

Find a knife with smooth aluminum handles or a framelock with the cutout on the inside of the knife, not the outside. It's much more likely the lockbar cut that's doing the damage than the clip.

I carry a clipped folder in the far right side of the right back pocket. Wrangler Riggs jeans have a reenforced back pocket with a bit of Cordura over the top seam and in the pocket itself that keeps the wear to a minimum. There is also a leather patch on the front right pocket for carrying a tape measure. A little thick for my knife, but worth a look for you.

These Levi's died a long time ago but I keep them around for house projects.

Most if not all my jeans are ripped apart by my emersons, and only with the emersons i had this "issue",and since i won't stop carrying my emerson this is what i didi with the already torn pockets !!!

Put some leather on the torn border of the pocket, and didi myself, otherwise wifey will get even madder :)

I kind of accept the fact, that its part of owning emersons...at least for me :D

I was thinking it was either the wave feature on the ZT 0620 or the gimping on the end of the handle on the ZT 0560.

This is an old pair of Wrangler jeans, the only jeans I buy, and I carry a large folder clipped in every day. I find that the end of the knife sometimes puts a little wear on the material above the pocket but I don't have much problem with wearing the edge of the pocket itself. By the time my jeans start to wear there, there is a lot of wear elsewhere.

I've had these jeans for 2-3 weeks now, and I have been using the wave feature (just recently got the ZT 0620) and also using the ZT 0560BW and the thread on the pocket is already been pulled out. Which is extremely disappointing. The stitching on your jeans look perfect.

Why don't you try to buy MXG deep carry clips or any aftermaket clips, I have them on three knives and they hold securely the knife without biting the jeans pocket

I will look into them for my other knives. I actually one of those on my ZT 0301. What ZT knives do you use the MXG clips on?

You think the wave feature rips the Jeans? Or just the g10?
