Ripped Off on Trade- Caution

Please don't be looking for someone to clear your name, as I have said nothing disparaging about you. I will say here quite openly that I liked the knives that you sent.

I will have to say that it is nice to have friends here.I use the turm freinds,at least as much as the internet will allow.I have had several people do me favors here and I have done favors for members too.I look forward to meeting many of the forum members at Blade next year.
Any way I am not jumping you,just my thoughts on that.
Hope the return shipments work out to please both of you.
 
Just E-Mailed Jerry RE: return of knives,sorry this turned into such a whizzing contest.I was reluctant to return knives without establishing that 2 were not knives as described in E-Mail as I feared I would be asked what happened to $120/$130 Lindner showinner and "german mfg" sidelock valued at $75 by us in E-Mail records.I do know Lindner has a factory in China as I used to deal hi-quality knives "back in the day".I also felt need to establish shipping method and condition of packaging to protect myself against claims of damage.If this was inappropriate as Mr.Purvis suggested then I guess I was just flat out wrong for availing myself of GBU,have collected knives for 50 years and consider myself a stand up guy.New to forums so if my conduct was unbecoming I apoligize to both Jerry and other forum members. Not quite sure yet what a troll or flamer is but my deepest apology if I violated any forum decorum. KELLY

There has been no whizzing contest, as I have not been whizzing. Please just send my knives back, and I'll gladly return yours as well. I can go to the post office on Friday to send your knives back. I can't go tomorrow, as I have to take my son into the city for medical reasons. I haven't accused you of anything, nor do I intend to. Four of my knives were in the original boxes. The other three were in the plastic sleeves that they came in, and packed with styrofoam. I'm quite sure if the knives were damaged when they arrived, you would have had headlines all over the place to that effect. Please just send them back in the condition that you received them in, and I promise that yours have not been used, and will be returned in fine condition.

Robert, you are not a troll and I don't believe you are a flamer either. The GB&U forum is generally used to commend people for good deals and to complain about deals gone bad. Normally, we consider a deal gone bad to be one where the all possible avenues have been tried to resolve the problem before it is brought here. Reputations can be tarnished unjustly if warnings are posted about people that have not first been given the opportunity to make things right.

The members here appreciate being advised about deals that have gone bad, but we have to be careful not to tar and feather someone that does not deserve it.

One thing I have found over and over is that the GB&U forum has been an aid in getting bad deals worked out. People have made good on a deal when if it had not been brought to GB&U there is a good chance that nothing would have been done. Use it properly and GB&U can be a great weapon to use against the unscrupulous, but use it only as a last resort.
 
I've been meaning to ask, are ya gonna send us a refridgerator magnet or not...before you hit the magic '10,000' post mark that is...lol

p.s. I've got another 'boatload' of knife magazines if you want them, otherwise they'll go to another deserving soul here at BFC...one with a lower post count that is... ;)
