Ritter Grip, yes or no?

Looking at the different custom scales that are available out there for the Ritter, does the user install them or do you send in your knife?

For me, it's either way....I allow my customers to make that decision.
Some folks feel comfortable doing the switch.
Others don't want to get into it.
It's easy peasy for me...I do it all the time. ;)

I have used many different type of materials (too many to mention).

I don't own this build but: M4 mini Ritter blade/M390 mini Grip blade, Cuscadi Ti scales, with that Axis lock... Now that is small edc perfection!

I finally decided to get one for myself and I have to say right now the only knife I have carried since I got it is my (new to me) Strider SNG. I love the stonewash finish on the Ritter. It is one of the best looking ones out there to me. Would definitely recommend getting one over the regular Grip. Actually if I had to settle on 3 knives the Ritter Grip would be in those 3.

I actually didn't carry my Ritter too much for the first year despite my excitement about venturing into Griptilian territory. It was the wider than I'm used to scales taking up pocket real estate-- that and the material itself didn't exactly turn my crank.

This whip is often IWB now and I've settled into enjoying the scale width in hand.

Thanks keyman. I'll take a look at your work as soon as photobucket is done with maintenance.

BTW, if I had not of happened upon these Cuscadi scales by chance in the Exchange here, I would have gone to Keyman. His work is so great.

Meh, I wasn't impressed. I even had the Wilkins scales for it. I like spydercos much better especially the manix 2. Same steel, better handle and ergos, same type lock

It's a excellent user, don't worry about the handles, mine last a good ten years. Gary

Ritter Grip YES.
I own the mini and the biggie.
Prefer the mini to the biggie.
As far as the frequently criticized scales... the default scales are fine for me, I prefer the slight palm swell ergos, no need for me to have anything glowing in the dark and I much prefer the light weight glass-filled Noryl GTX with secure non-slip grip diamond texturing, to expensive small concentric circular moon craters.

For me it was just the opposite--sold off the Manix 2---no where near the comfort as my Ritter with the Wilkins grips.

For 3x the price I just didn't see it. Got a strider fixed with the money I made off it :)

That's cool, but for me the value is definitely there, guess that's why I've got three of them ;). That's the beauty of knives though---to each his own, no one knife for everyone.

It's been a long while since I have been around even longer since I posted, but the Ritter Grip (mini in my case) is that good I simply had to add my 2 cents... This is a great knife. Another great option for custom scales is the German company Cuscadi(no affiliation). A Ritter + custom scales makes for a pretty special edc IMHO, go get one I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Phew that felt good to be back and contribute, hi to every one here at bladeforums.

Yes, I have really liked mine. I agree it takes up a lot of pocket space. Benchmade sent me contego pocket clips so it sits bit lower, which I like. And those contego pocket clips are smoother compared to the parkerized clip that comes standard on the ritter grip. Retention is a bit less with the contego clip so I might have to press it in to up the tension. As far as cutting, I have really been impressed. It's nice when you're cutting through something and you expect it to take some extra push, but it slides right through. Good luck!

Get the Ritter, you won't regret it. I have both, large & small. Gary
